TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
MIDLAND ROAD, BEDFORD 25 – 027
INCLUDING THE JUNCTIONS OF COSTIN STREET, MAITLAND STREET,
BATTISON STREET, WESTERN STREET ALEXANDRA ROAD,
BRERETON ROAD, PRIORY STREET

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Midland Road, Bedford including the junctions of Costin Street, Maitland Street, Battison Street, Western Street Alexandra Road, Brereton Road, Priory Street.

These temporary road closures are required to facilitate re surfacing carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

These temporary road closures are anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 12th May 2025 to 24th May 2025

The proposed Order will come into operation on 12th May 2025, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier. For further information please contact Bedford Borough Council Tel: 01234 718003.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
ALEXANDRA ROAD, WOBURN ROAD, CONDUIT ROAD BEDFORD 25 – 019

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Alexandra Road, Woburn Road, Conduit Road Bedford.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate re surfacing carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours from 12th May 2025 to 22nd May 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Div 1 Midland Road, Ashburnham Road, Bromham Road, Conduit Road Div 2 Bromham Road, Hassett Street, Greyfriars, Midland Road.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
THE RIDGEWAY, BEDFORD 25 – 008

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, from proceeding along the length of The Ridgeway, Bedford between 20 - 30.

This temporary road closure is required to replace a fire hydrant and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 13th May 2025 to 15th May 2025

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024
THE BIG LUNCH, BEDFORD 2025 – 0708

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along those lengths of various roads in Bedford Borough.

These temporary road closures are required to facilitate The Big Lunch and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

These temporary road closures are expected to be in operation 7th June 2025 and 8th June 2025 1 day each

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
STAGSDEN ROAD, BROMHAM 25 – 018

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Stagsden Road, Bromham junction Laurel Avenue. This temporary road closure is required to facilitate the construction of a new footway, and re locate bus stop and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 16:00 hours from 26th May 2025 to 30th May 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Stagsden Road, Bromham Bypass, C46 Slip Road To A428, Box End Road.

The reverse route applies.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE SOME PARKING
RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS, WILSTEAD

Reason for Proposal:

Following a request from Wilstead Parish Council, Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce parking and loading restrictions in Bedford Road, Luton Road, Cotton End Road and Whitworth Way at Wilstead. The restrictions are required due to inconsiderate parking at these locations.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) and ‘No loading at any time’ restrictions (double yellow kerb blips) on the following lengths of roads:

A Bedford Road, Wilstead
(i) On its eastern side, extending from a point approx. 31.5 metres south of the
centre of Town Close to its junction with Cotton End Road.
B  Cotton End Road, Wilstead
(i) On its northern side, extending from its junction with Bedford Road for a
distance of approx. 29 metres in an easterly direction.

2.  To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:

A Luton Road, Wilstead
(i) On its eastern side, extending from its junction with Cotton End Road in a
southerly direction to a point approx. 3.5 metres north of the projected boundary
between nos. 1 and 1a Luton Road.
(ii) On its western side, extending from its junction with Church Road in a southerly
direction to a point approx. 3.5 metres north of the projected boundary between
nos. 1 and 1a Luton Road.
B  Cotton End Road, Wilstead
(i) On its northern side, extending from a point approx. 29 metres east of its
junction with Bedford Road for a distance of approx. 15 metres in an easterly
direction.
(ii) On its southern side, extending from its junction with Luton Road in an easterly
direction to a point approx. 22.5 metres east of the projected centre of Dines
Close (to the start of the existing School Keep Clear zig zags).
(iii) On its southern side, extending in an easterly direction from a point approx.
48.5 metres east of the projected centre of Dines Close (the end of the existing
School Keep Clear zig zags) to its junction with Whitworth Way.
C Whitworth Way, Wilstead
(i) On its western side, extending from its junction with Cotton End Road for
a distance of approx. 13 metres in a southerly direction.
(ii) On its eastern side, extending from a point approx. 49 metres south of its
junction with Cotton End Road for a distance of approx. 19 metres in a
southerly direction.

Relevant proposal documents may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. They will also be available for viewing on the council’s website at www.bedford.gov.uk/proposedtro. The documents will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the Order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE NEW PARKING
RESTRICTIONS IN RONALD CLOSE AND OTHER ROADS, KEMPSTON

Reason for Proposals:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Ward Councillors for some new parking restrictions in Ronald Close at its junction with Chantry Road and Singer Way at its junction with Sunbeam Road, Kempston. The proposal is aimed at helping to maintain visibility and safety at these locations.

Effect of the Order:

1 To revoke existing single yellow line restrictions (No waiting Mon - Sat, 7am - 7pm) and to introduce double yellow line restrictions (No waiting at any time) on the following length of road:

A Ronald Close, Kempston
(i) On its north-western kerb, extending from its junction with Chantry Road for
a distance of approx. 10 metres in a northerly direction.

2 To introduce a double yellow line restriction (No waiting at any time) on the following lengths of roads:

A Chantry Road, Kempston
(i) On its north-eastern kerb, extending from its junction with Ronald Close for
a distance of approx. 5 metres in a south-easterly direction.
B Singer Way, Kempston
(i) On its south-eastern kerb, extending from a point approx. 26 metres north-east
of the centre of Sunbeam Road for a distance of approx. 101.5 metres in a
north-easterly direction.
(ii) On its north-western kerb, extending from a point approx. 39 metres north-east
of the projected centre of Sunbeam Road for a distance of approx. 88.5 metres
in a north-easterly direction
C Ronald Close, Kempston
(i) On its eastern kerb, extending from its junction with Chantry Road for a distance
of approx. 10 metres in a northerly direction.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE NEW PARKING
RESTRICTIONS IN THOMSON AVENUE AND BRANCKER AVENUE,
SHORTSTOWN

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Shortstown Parish Council for new parking restrictions in the turning heads of Thomson Avenue & Brancker Avenue, Shortstown. This is in response to inconsiderate parking at these locations, which restricts vehicle manoeuvres.

Effect of the Proposal:

1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:

A Brancker Avenue, Shortstown
(i) Around the turning head at its western end, commencing on its southern side,
extending from a point approx. 12 metres west of the boundary between
nos. 1 and 3 Brancker Avenue, continuing in a westerly, then northerly and then
easterly (clockwise) direction, ending on its northern side opposite the start point.
B Thomson Avenue, Shortstown
Around the turning head at its western end, commencing on its northern side,
extending from the projected western boundary of no. 2, continuing in a
westerly, then southerly and then easterly (anti-clockwise) direction, ending
on its southern side opposite the start point
