Chester Road & Wood Lane, Hinstock - Installation Of Road Humps
What is happening?
INSTALLATION OF ROAD HUMPS ON SCHOOL BANK, CHESTER ROAD AND WOOD LANE, HINSTOCK
Notice is hereby given that Shropshire Council, in exercise of their powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police, propose to establish traffic calming measures on School Bank, Chester Road and Wood Lane, Hinstock.
Raised Plateau
A raised plateau is proposed between the following points (typically, the height of the plateau will be 75mm and will extend the full width of the carriageway):
1) A529 School Bank from a point 32m north of the property boundary of no.1 and no.2 School Bank, Hinstock;
2) A529 Wood Lane to a point 27m north of the junction with School Bank and Chester Road, Hinstock;
3) Chester Road 12m north of the junction with School Bank and Wood Lane, Hinstock. Total length of the proposed plateau is:
* 94m (School Bank to Wood Lane),
* 79m (School Bank to Chester Road).
Speed Cushions
Pairs of speed cushions are proposed at the following locations on School Bank (typically, the height of the speed cushions will be between 65 - 75mm high, be 2 – 3m in length, and 1.6 – 2m in width):
School Bank, Hinstock.
1) 54m south of the property boundary of no.1 and no.2 School Bank, Hinstock;
2) 142m south of the southern property boundary of no.1 and no.2 School Bank, Hinstock;
3) 56m north west of its junction with Manor Farm Drive, Hinstock.
A pair of speed cushions is proposed at the following location on Chester Road (typically, the height of the speed cushions will be between 65 - 75mm high, be 2 – 3m in length, and 1.6 – 2m in width):
Chester Road, Hinstock.
60m north of the junction with School Bank and Wood Lane, Hinstock.
A pair of speed cushions is proposed at the following location on Wood Lane (typically, the height of the speed cushions will be between 65 - 75mm high, be 2 – 3m in length, and 1.6 – 2m in width):
Wood Lane, Hinstock.
113m north of the junction with School Bank and Chester Road, Hinstock.

(SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2007 (AMENDMENT NO. 4) ORDER 2025
On 24 April 2025 Shropshire Council made an order to reduce the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on the following lengths of roads in Hinstock:
20mph Speed Limit Zone
That length of the A529 Hinstock to Nantwich Road which extends between points 612 metres north and 208 metres north of its junction with Church Street.
That length of Chester Road which extends from its junction with the A529 Wood Lane for 62 metres in a north-westerly direction.
These changes will come into effect on 2 May 2025.
A copy of the order may be examined during normal office hours (8:45am-5:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:45am-4:00pm on Fridays) at Shropshire Council, The Guildhall, Frankwell, Shrewsbury.
If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or any provisions in it, on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from 24 April 2025, apply for that purpose to the High Court.
