Norfolk - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions due to Works
What is happening?
WYMONDHAM – U78416 Sheffield Road from its junction with U78417 Warwick Drive for 120m northwards to facilitate pipe repair works from 29th April to 1st May 2025 (may continue until the 12th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Sheffield Road, Lime Tree Avenue, Tuttles Lane East, Hewitts Lane. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

DOWNHAM MARKET – Victoria Street from its junction with Bennett Street to its junction with Porter Street to facilitate carriageway patching works from 29th April to 1st May 2025 (may continue until the 12th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Windsor Street, Bennett Street. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
DOWNHAM MARKET – Paradise Road from its junction with Railway Road for 80m northwards to facilitate HRA patching works from 29th April to 1st May 2025 (may continue until 12th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Paradise Road, Nelson Avenue, Elizabeth Avenue, Porter Street, Railway Road Bennett Street. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
FELTWELL – Long Drove from 1965m southwest of its junction with Feltwell Road for 3545m westwards to facilitate carriageway regeneration works from 28th April to 2nd May 2025 (may continue until the 13th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Black Drove, Long Drove, Sedge Fen Road, Ferry Bank, A10 Southery Bypass, Further Fen Lane, Lynn Road, Feltwell Road (Methwold Southery). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
KING’S LYNN – William Booth Road westwardly from 10m east of its junction with Winston Churchill Drive for 50m eastwards to facilitate stop tap replacement works. The footway will be temporarily closed from 28th to 30th April 2025 (may continue until the 11th June 2025). Alternative route is via: William Booth Road, Ambrose Way, Mallard Way, Winston Churchill Drive. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
KING’S LYNN – Bergen Way from its junction with Edward Benefer Way for 60m southwards to facilitate pedestrian/cycle refuge installation works and carriageway resurfacing and lining works from 28th April to 16th May 2025 (may continue until the 27th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Edward Benefer Way, Hamburg Way, Bergen Way. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
KING’S LYNN – Gladstone Road from 20m north of its junction with The Friars for 20m northwards to facilitate stop tap replacement works from 30th April to 2nd May 2025 (may continue until the 13th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Ethel Terrace, Friars Street. The works promoter is: Anglian Water.
KING’S LYNN – Blackfriars Road from its junction with Wellesley Street to its junction with Portland Street to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works between 19:00 and 06:30 from 27th to 28th April 2025 (may continue until the 9th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Wellesley Street, Railway Road, Norfolk Street, John Kennedy Road, Austin Street, Littleport Street, Gaywood Road, Tennyson Avenue, Tennyson Road, Goodwins Road, Vancouver Avenue, Out South Gates, London Road, St James Road. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
KING’S LYNN – Tennyson Avenue from its junction with Gaywood Road to its junction with The Southgates roundabout to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works. The Road will be subject to the temporary suspension of the 7.5-tonne weight restriction between 19:00 and 06:30 on 27th April, then the 4th and 11th May 2025 (may continue until the 23rd June 2025). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
NB Please note that the suspension is only in place on Sundays.
SHOULDHAM – Westgate Street from 200m north of its junction with Lynn Road for 50m northwards to facilitate stop tap replacement works from 29th April to 1st May 2025 (may continue until 12th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Westgate Street, Lynn Road, Faristated Drove, New Road, Eastgate Street, The Green. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
STOW BARDOLPH – Stow Road from 647m east of its junction with Town Drove for 60m eastwards to facilitate repairs for bridge parapet wall from 28th to 29th April 2025 (may continue until 10th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Stow Road, Outwell Road, Highbridge Road, The Drove, Langhorns Lane, The Drove, Barroway Drove Road (Outwell, Stow Bardolph, Nordelph). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
TILNEY ALL SAINTS – Lynn Road from its junction with A47 for 80m westwards to facilitate overhead cabling works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 29th April 2025 (may continue until 10th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Lynn Road, A47 Roundabout At Tilney All Saints, Pullover Road, Islington Road, A47 From J A17 To Roundabout At Tilney All Saints, A47 J A17 Roundabout, A47 Trunk Road From The Pullover Roundabout To The Hardwick Roundabout, A47 From J A17 To J A148 W, A47 J A148 Leave E, A47 Through J A148 E, Saddlebow Road, High Road Roundabout, High Road, Fitton Road, Peters Drove, Common Road, Lords Bridge (Tilney All Saints, Wiggenhall St. Germans, Tilney St. Lawrence). The works promoter is BT.
UPWELL – Town Street from its junction with New Bridge Road for 50m north eastwards to facilitate water exchange works on 29th April 2025 (may continue until 10th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Town Street, New Road, St Peters Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
WATLINGTON – Thieves Bridge Road from its junction with Downham Road for 155m eastwards to facilitate access to boxes for cabling works between 09:30 and 15:30 on 2nd May 2025 (may continue until 13th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Thieves Bridge Road, Lynn Road, School Road, Watlington Road, Downham Road (Watlington, Runcton Holme). The works promoter is BT.
WELNEY – Wash Road from its junction with Bells Drove to its junction with Bates Drove to facilitate carriageway repairs. The road will be temporarily subject to a 40mph speed restriction from 28th to 29th April 2025 (may continue to be restricted until 10th June 2025). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
WRETTON – Field Lane from its junction with Lynn Road for 33m south westwards to facilitate carriageway patching works from 29th to 30th April 2025 (may continue until 12th June 2025). Alternative route is via: Field Lane, Church Road, Lynn Road, Wretton Road, Lynn Road (Stoke Ferry, Wretton). The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
The team dealing with enquiries at Norfolk County Council is West Streetworks.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice.
If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
