What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(WANDON PARK)
(TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURES) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 30th June 2025 for a period of 6 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to pedestrians the footpath from Selsey Drive to Hayling Drive (Public Right of Way Offley 039) and the footpath from Birling Drive to Wandon Close to Telscombe Way (Public Right of Way Luton FP 27) the whole lengths. Diversion via footpath from Wandon Close to Telscombe Way will run parallel to the Eastern Site Boundary, linking both roads. The footpath from Birling Drive to Wandon Close will be rerouted from Birling Drive along Middleton Road to Selsey Drive then onto Hayling Drive. Then if you need to get to Wandon Close you would need to travel along Telscombe Way and onto Wandon Close using the other diverted footpath. The footpath from Wandon Close to Telscombe Way will run parallel to the Western/Southern corner of the site boundary, linking both roads.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period within the date described as above. The purpose of the Order is to enable construction works in Wandon Park to be carried out. Whilst such works are being carried out diversions for pedestrians will be marked by signs. Details of footpath closures and diversions can be found at
