Braintree, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance and Resurfacing works
What is happening?

(Footpath 21, Kelvedon) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 21, Kelvedon in the District of Braintree. From a point approximately 254 metres north of Footpath 11 north for approximately 146 metres.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 28 April 2025 to 27 October 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to enable sufficient working space to construct footpath relating to the new development.
Alternative route: will be via Doughton Road, Petley Way, Seabrook Road, Garrad Way and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 28 April 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Lanham Green, Cressing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Lanham Green, Cressing in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Lanham Green Road to its junction with Shardloes Lane a distance of approximately 345m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th May 2025 for 47 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01465218727/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Temple Lane, Witham Road, Polecat Road, The Street, Ashes Road, Long Green, A120 J B1018 Roundabout, A120, A120 J A131/B1256 Roundabout, A120 and vice versa (with access only into Hollies Road, Fields Road, Withies Green, Lanham Green, Lanham Green Road and Boars Tye Road).
The Order will come into effect on 1st May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Various Roads, District of Braintree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.8) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:

To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.

A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time” restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 1st May 2025, exact dates will be specified on One.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter / leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

(Bardfield Road, Finchingfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bardfield Road, Finchingfield in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 130m south west of the junction with The Hopgrounds for a distance of approximately 290m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231012614 – GTM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bellmouth construction and resurfacing works are undertaken by GTM.
An alternative route is available via Crown Street, Brook Street, High Street, Dunmow Road, Oxen End, Dunmow Road, Dunmow Road From Lindsell To Duck End, Dunmow Road From Bran End To Broadway, The Broadway, Church End, Church Street, Lime Tree Hill, Beaumont Hill, Dunmow Road, Mill End, Town Street, Watling Street, The Bullring, Newbiggen Street, Walden Road, Great Sampford Road, Thaxted Road, Hill Road, Finchingfield Road, Hawkins Hill, Sampford Road, Brent Hall Road and vice versa (with access only into The Green, Bardfield Road, Finchingfield Road Bridge End and Bridge Street).

(Hanover Bridge, Feering) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hanover Bridge, Feering in the District of Braintree, from its junction with New Lane for a distance of approximately 80m north easterly to its junction with Hanover Square. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th May 2025 for 1 night (00:01–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL737LTN1-43-31-110525 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while rail replacement works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Hanover Square, Hanover Bridge and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Mill Hill, Braintree & Bocking) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Hill, Braintree & Bocking in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 100m north west of the junction with Megs Way for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03165327772 – Anglian Water).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Chapel Hill, Lakes Road, Manor Street, Trinovantian Way, Railway Street, Rose Hill and vice versa (with access only into Mill Hill).
The Order came into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
