Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREAS
B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury, CT2 7JE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow signage and lining works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of B2248 St Stephens Road, Canterbury, from 19:00 hours on 21st May 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 22nd May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between number 43 and the St Stephens Road Roundabout, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2248 St Stephens Road, Station Road West, A290 St Dunstans Street, Whitstable Road, Forty Acres Road, Beaconsfield Road, St Stephens Hill, St Stephens Green, St Stephens Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bogshole Lane & May Street, Herne Bay (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To install new apparatus and allow Section 278 works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Bogshole Lane & May Street, Herne Bay, from 22nd May 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd November 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed in their entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Reculver Road and Sweechbridge Road.
A temporary footway will provide access for pedestrians and cyclists.
Ford Hill, Hoath, CT6 7AA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ford Hill, Hoath, from 6th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the junction with Margate Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Margate Road, Hunters Forstal Road, Mill Lane, School Lane, A291 Herne Street, Canterbury Road, Calcott Hill, Herne Bay Road, Sturry Hill, A28 Island Road, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road, Maypole Road, Maypole Lane, Ford Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Ford Hill, Hoath, CT3 4LU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ford Hill, Hoath, from 7th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the junction with Maypole Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ford Hill, Highstead, Boyden Gate Hill, Church Hill, Sandpit Hill, Nethergong Hill, The Glen, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Babs Oak Hill, Hoath Road, Maypole Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Island Wall, Whitstable, CT5 1DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Island Wall, Whitstable, from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 21st May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 98, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Monastery Street, Canterbury, CT1 1PE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow blockage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Monastery Street, Canterbury, from 20th May 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd May 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 2 and 4, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A257 Lower Chantry Lane, A2050 St Georges Place, A28 Lower Bridge Street, Lady Woottons Green, and vice versa (access only on Longport).
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Mortimer Street, Beach Street & William Street, Herne Bay. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY ORDER) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow manhole frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mortimer Street, Beach Street & William Street, Herne Bay, from 20th May 2025, with estimated completion by 22nd May 2025, between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00, or until the works have been completed.
Mortimer Street
The road will be closed between numbers 72 and 165, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via:
Diversion A - Mortimer Street, Richmond Street, Central Parade, Charles Street and William Street.
The One-Way Order on Mortimer Street will be suspended as follows, to allow access;

Between the junctions with Market Street and William Street.
•
Between the junctions with Charles Street and Mortimer Street.
•
On Market Street.
Diversion B - North Street, B2205 High Street and East Street.
The One-Way Order on Mortimer Street will be suspended between the junctions with East Street and North Street, to allow access.
Beach Street
The road will be closed adjacent to number 52, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via B2205 High Street, A291 Canterbury Road, Central Parade, Richmond Street and Mortimer Street.
The One-Way Order on Beach Street will be suspended between the junctions with Mortimer Street and B2205 High Street, to allow access.
William Street
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Mortimer Street, Bank Street and B2205 High Street.
The One-Way Order on William Street will be suspended between the junctions with Mortimer Street and B2205 High Street, to allow access.
Pett Bottom Road, Upper Hardres, CT4 6EH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pett Bottom Road, Upper Hardres, from 8th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Rectory Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pett Bottom Road, Manns Hill, The Street, Hardres Court Road, Tapleys Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Reculver Road, Herne Bay, CT6 6JS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Reculver Road, Herne Bay, from 8th May 2025, for up to one day, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 314, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Reculver Road, Sweechbridge Road, Heart in Hand Road, Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, Mickleburgh Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Simmonds Road, Canterbury, CT1 3SS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow manhole frame and cover replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Simmonds Road, Canterbury, from 22:00 hours on 8th May 2025, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 9th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 34A Wincheap Industrial Estate, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Simmonds Road, A28 Wincheap, Cow Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
St Mildreds Place, Canterbury, CT1 3SS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow frame and cover replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of St Mildreds Place, Canterbury, from 6th May 2025, with estimated completion by 7th May 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Peri Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic Southbound is via St Mildreds Place, Victoria Road, A28 Wincheap, Wincheap Green, Gordon Road and Martyrs’ Field Road.
The alternative route for any through traffic Northbound is via St Mildreds Place, Martyrs’ Field Road, York Road, A28 Wincheap and Victoria Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Links, Herne Bay, CT6 5UE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Links, Herne Bay, from 20:00 hours on 6th May 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 7th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between Eddington Interchange roundabout and The Links car park, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road and A299 Thanet Way.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Whitstable 10K Event 2025 (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow the Whitstable 10K 2025 event to be held, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Beach Walk, Tower Hill & Marine Parade, Whitstable, from 5th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08.00 and 12.30, or until the event has completed.
Beach Walk will be closed in its entirety, approximately between the hours of 08:00 and 12:30.
Tower Hill will be closed in its entirety, approximately between the hours of 09:20 and 10:30.
Marine Parade will be closed in its entirety, approximately between the hours of 09:20 and 10:30.
The following roads will be closed at their junctions with Marine Parade, with access to each of them remaining from the B2205 Tankerton Road direction:-
• Park Avenue
• Cliff Road
• St Annes Road
All roads will be re-opened as soon as it is safe to do so.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2205 Tankerton Road. Pedestrian access will be maintained during the event.
