What is happening?
HIGHWAYS
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
ASHFORD AREA
A2042 Beaver Road, Ashford. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A2042 Beaver Road, Ashford, from 5th May 2025, with estimated completion by 6th May 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 5 and 39, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2042 Beaver Road, Norman Road, Romney Marsh Road, Beaver Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The bus gate will be suspended to allow for diverted traffic.
Bethersden Road, Hothfield & Bethersden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow waste clearance works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bethersden Road, Hothfield & Bethersden, from 5th May 2025, with estimated completion by 31st August 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Pluckley Road and Sparrow Hatch Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, West Street, Little Chart Road, Swan Lane, Charing Road, Forge Hill, Smarden Road, Chambers Green Road, Pluckley Road, Fridd Lane, Bethersden Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bethersden Road, Woodchurch. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on Bethersden Road, Woodchurch, from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 20th May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bethersden Road, Plurenden Road, Woodchurch Road, Church Hill, A28 Ashford Road, Woodchurch Road, Bethersden Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Blackwall Road, Wittersham, TN30 7EE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Blackwall Road, Wittersham, from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 21st May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the property The Lea, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, B2082 Stocks Road, Rye Road, Wittersham Road, Iden Road, Main Street, Iden Road, A268 Rye Road, Main Road, School Lane, Flackley Ash, Mackerel Hill, Wittersham Road, Blackwall Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bournewood, Hamstreet, TN26 2DW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow customer service works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bournewood, Hamstreet, from 9th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:30 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite number 4, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Buck Street, Challock, TN25 4AU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Buck Street, Challock, from 21:00 hours on 21st May 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 22nd May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the property Claxton Joy, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A251 Buck Street, Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, The Street, Maidstone Road, A28 Ashford Road, Canterbury Road, A2042 Faversham Road, A251 Faversham Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Church Road, Kennington, TN24 9DG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road, Kennington, from 7th May 2025, with estimated completion by 8th May 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between Jandym and The Old House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Road, The Street, A28 Canterbury Road, A2042 Faversham Road, Church Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Lenacre Street, Eastwell. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lenacre Street, Eastwell, from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 23rd May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from The Old Rectory, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lenacre Street, Kingsland Lane, Westwell Lane and Sandyhurst Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Newtown Road, Ashford. (PROHIBITION OF PEDESTRIANS) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow bus stop installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting pedestrians on part of Newtown Road, Ashford footway, from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 21st May 2025, between the hours of 07:00 and 19:00, or until the works have been completed.
The footway will be closed between the junctions with Alfred Road and Newtown Green, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via Newtown Green, Alfred Road and vice versa.
Standard Lane, Bethersden, TN26 3JS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Standard Lane, Bethersden, from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 21st May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Three Gables, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Standard Lane, Chequer Tree Lane, Gascoigne Road, A28 Ashford Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Street & Station Road, Pluckley. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Street & Station Road, Pluckley, from 19th May 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The roads will be closed from the junction with Forge Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Forge Hill, Smarden Road, Chambers Green Road, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Tritton Fields, Kennington, TN24 9EX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow frame and cover replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Tritton Fields, Kennington, from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 20th May 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 88, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Street, Tritton Fields, Marlborough Way and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Various Roads, Sevington & Willesborough. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, PEDESTRIANS & SUSPENSION OF ONE-WAY ORDER) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2025
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads throughout Sevington & Willesborough. This order takes effect on or after 6th May 2025, with estimated completion by 31st January 2026, or where stated on valid permits.
UKPN are working in conjunction with SGN to complete part of their works with reduced disruption on the highway.
Works Schedule
Sevington Lane & Boys Hall Road, Willesborough
Sevington Lane & Boys Hall Road will be closed from 6th May 2025, with estimated completion by 26th May 2025.
The roads will be closed between the junctions with Osbourne Road and Millstream Green.
The alternative route for vehicles is via Boys Hall Road, Canterbury Road, Crowbridge Link, Crowbridge Road, The Boulevard, A2070, A292 Hythe Road, Church Road and vice versa.
Church Road, Willesborough
Phase 1
Church Road will be closed from 19th May 2025, with estimated completion by 25th June 2025.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Highfield Road and Sevington Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles accessing Church Road is via Osborne Road, Hunter Road, A292 Hythe Road and vice versa.
This closure will involve a one week period where the junction of Osborne Road and Sevington Lane are also closed at the same time as Church Road.
During this period the alternative route for vehicles accessing Church Road and Sevington Lane is via Boys Hall Road, Canterbury Road, Crowbridge Link, Crowbridge Road, The Boulevard, A2070, A292 Hythe Road (main diversion route).
The alternative route for vehicles accessing Osborne Road will be via the main diversion route through Hunters Road and vice versa.
Phase 2
Church Road will be closed from 26th June 2025, with estimated completion by 6th July 2025.
The road will be closed to vehicles travelling South between the junctions with A292 Hythe Road and Highfield Road.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A292 Hythe Road, Hunter Road and Osborne Road (One-way order prohibiting vehicles from travelling South).
Barry Road, Sevington
Pedestrians will be prohibited from travelling on Barry Road from 21st July 2025, with estimated completion by 1st August 2025.
This closure will be imposed between the junctions with A2070 and Church Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for pedestrians is via A2070, Cycle track from Church Road to Church Road using the footbridge, Church Road, Barry Road and vice versa.
A292 Hythe Road, Willesborough
A292 Hythe Road will be closed from 18th August 2025, with estimated completion by 31st August 2025.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Lees Road and Church Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A292 Hythe Road, A2070, A2042 Bad Munstereifel Road, Romney Marsh Road, Avenue Jacques Faucheux, Beaver Road, Station Road, Wellesley Road, A292 Mace Lane and vice versa (main diversion route).
The alternative route for vehicles on Church Road is via Osbourne Road, Hunter Road, main diversion route.
The alternative route for vehicles on Lees Road is via Silver Hill Road, A2070 Kennington Road, main diversion route.
Planned dates for the closure below will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.
Lees Road & Silver Hill Road, Willesborough
The roads will be closed in their entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for vehicles is via A292 Hythe Road, A2070 M20 J10 roundabout, A2070 Kennington Road and Silver Hill Road.
The One-Way Order on Silver Hill Road will be suspended for the duration of this closure.
