Waltham Forest - Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?
LONDON BOROUGH OF WALTHAM FOREST (LBWF)
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
THE WALTHAM FOREST (HIGH STREET E17 REGION) (HIGHWAY RECONSTRUCTION) (TEMPORARY MEASURES) (NO. 1) ORDER 2025
The Council of the LBWF HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it intends on making an Order to allow for highway reconstruction works to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner in a section of High Street E17.
The general effect of the Order would be, only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed:
(a) to prohibit vehicles from entering, proceeding, waiting or loading for any purpose in High Street E17 (HS); between its junction with Hoe Street and the western kerb line of Cleveland Park Avenue (CPA);
(b) to restrict vehicles from waiting or loading for any purpose, on both sides of CPA, between its junction with HS and the northernmost boundary of No. 259 HS;
(c) to suspend the prohibited access point in CPA outside No. 40 CPA;
(d) to prohibit motor vehicles travelling northbound in CPA, between its junctions with HS and the southernmost arm of Cleveland Park Crescent (CPC), to enter that section of CPA (between No. 24 CPA and No. 10 CPA) where entry to that section of CPA is prohibited by a no-entry sign plate situated outside No. 24 CPA
(e) to prohibit vehicles from proceeding in CPA between No. 24 CPA and No. 10 CPA in a direction other than from south to north.
The restrictions mentioned in paragraphs 2(a) and 2(b) would not apply in relation to any personnel or vehicle being used for access to Tower Mews (if the works allow)
The Order would come into force on 6th May 2025 and would be valid for a period of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner.
NOTE: The works are expected to be completed within 9 months, but additional time is required for contingencies. (Ref: TT6(25))
THE WALTHAM FOREST (THAMES WATER NEW CONNECTION) (MELBOURNE ROAD E10 AND AUBREY ROAD E17) (TEMPORARY MEASURES) (NO. 1) ORDER 2025
The Council of the LBWF HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that on 24th April 2025 it made an Order to allow for works associated with setting up new water connections by Thames Water to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
The general effect of the Order will be, only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed, to prohibit vehicles from entering, proceeding, waiting or loading for any purpose, in:
(i) Aubrey Road E17 – between the common boundary of Nos. 61/62 and the north-facing wall of No. 52; and
(ii) Melbourne Road E10 (MLR) – between its junction with Lea Bridge Road and the northern boundary of No. 1 (MLR).
Whilst the restrictions referred to in paragraph 2(i) of this notice remain in force, and only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed or, where applicable, covered one-way working and no-entry prohibitions in Aubrey Road E17 shall be temporarily suspended.
The Order will come into operation on 28th April 2025 for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner. (Ref: TT15(25))
NOTE: The works in Aubrey Road E17, and in Melbourne Road E10 are expected to be completed in 5 days, but additional time is required for contingencies.
THE WALTHAM FOREST (MAINS REPLACEMENT) (CADENT GAS) (FOREST SIDE E4) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITIONS) (NO. 1) ORDER 2025
The Council of LBWF HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that on 24th April 2025 it made an Order to enable gas mains replacement works by Cadent Gas, to be carried out in a safe and efficient manner in Forest Side.
The general effect of the Order will be, only at such times and to such extent as regulatory signs are displayed, to prohibit vehicles from entering, proceeding, waiting or loading for any purpose in:
i) Forest Side E4 (FTS) – between (i) its junctions (ins) with Woodedge Close (WGC) and Whitehall Road (WHR);
ii) Forest Court E4 (FSC) – in its jun with FTS and a point 12 metres from the said jn; and
iii) Oakhurst Gardens E4 (OHG) – b/n its in with FTS and the west facing wall of No. 6 OHG.
NOTE: The works in FTS will be carried out in sections as follows:
(a) b/n its in with WGC and The Copse;
(b) the common boundary (cb) of Nos. 59/61 and its in with FSC; and
(c) between the cb of Nos. 23/27 and its in with WHR.
The Order will come into operation on 28th April 2025 for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works are completed, whichever is the sooner. (Ref: TT16(25))
NOTE: The works are expected to be completed within 1 month, however the Order has been extended to allow for contingencies.
Vehicles waiting or loading in disregard of these Orders would be removed.
Any uncontrolled or designated controlled parking spaces situated in the roads or parts of roads affected by any of the measures set out in the notices above will be suspended.
The prohibitions mentioned in all notices above would not apply in relation to any vehicle being used:
a) in connection with the said works; or
b) for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes (if the works allow).
Signage will be placed in advance of any works in the roads mentioned to be affected by the Orders, which would include specific details on the exact dates of the prohibitions, effects of any temporary traffic management and diversion routes as necessary.
