Anderson Street - Temporary Prohitibion of driving order
What is happening?

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Tyneside Council intends to make an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- Phase 1 Anderson St, Sth Shields, from its junction with Beach Rd to its junction with Winchester St. Phase 2 Anderson St, Sth Shields, from its junction with Winchester St to its junction with Ocean Rd. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable South Tyneside Council to resurface the highway. The Order will come into force on the 08/05/25. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order
will be 18 mths however it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from Phase 1 between 20:00 - 06:00 from 12 – 14/05/25 for 2 nights. Phase 2 between 20:00 - 06:00 from 15 – 21/05/25 for 5 nights. The road will be open on
Sat 17th and Sun 18th May 2025. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Ocean Rd, Seafield Tce, Seaview Tce, Beach Rd and vice versa.
