Reading, Bus Lane Designation Order

What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(A33) (BUS LANES) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(1), 122(1) and 122(2) and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act as amended has made the above Order which will come into operation on 28 April 2025.

The general nature and effect of the Order will be to designate the lengths of roads along the south section of the A33 as bus lanes:

  • The area of carriageway of that length of the A33 which extends from a point 70 metres south of its junction with Bennet Road to a point 74 metres north of its junction with Imperial Way – Southbound, nearside lane.

  • The area of carriageway of that length of the A33 which extends from its junction with Imperial Way to its junction with Basingstoke Road – Southbound, offside lane.

  • The area of carriageway of that length of the A33 which extends from a point 54m north of its junction with Imperial Way to a point 175 metres south of its junction with South Oaks Way – Northbound, nearside lane.

Copies of this Notice, the made order, plans, the orders to be revoked and Council’s statement of reasons for making the order may be viewed online at https://reading-govcoalc.com/en-GB/. They can also be inspected during office hours by prior appointment only, Monday to Friday at the Civic Offices, from the date of this notice until of six weeks after the order is made.

If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirement of the Act, or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from 23 April 2025 apply for the purpose to the High Court.
