York, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 24 April 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (1) & (2). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (3), (4) & (5).
(1) LEEMAN ROAD, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Leeman Road, York between its junctions with Station Avenue and Cinder Lane (closed road) during the period when resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1930hrs on Monday, 28 April 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Sunday, 11 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that works will only take place between 1930hrs and 0600hrs each night for the works period. It is also envisaged that works on the section of Leeman Road between its junctions with Station Avenue and Station Rise (adjacent to Memorial Gardens) will take place overnight between Monday, 28 April 2025 and Saturday, 3 May 2025. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Museum Street, St Leonards Place, Bootham, Clifton, Water End, Salisbury Road, Kingsland Terrace.
(2) FOOTPATH FROM GARNET TERRACE TO WATER END, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Garnet Terrace to Water End, York between Garnet Terrace’s junction with the Footpath From Water End To Garnet Terrace And Bismark Street and a location 75 metres north-west of said junction (closed footpath) during the period when flood management works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 28 July 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 28 July 2025 (works period) or at a time when the said works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Water End.
(3) MAPLE AVENUE, BISHOPTHORPE
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Maple Avenue, Bishopthorpe between its junction with Appleton Road and the projected south-western boundary of property no’s 10 & 12 (closed road), during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Friday, 23 May 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 23 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Acaster Lane, Montague Road. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services.
(4) MANOR LANE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Manor Lane, York between the projected south-western boundaries of property no’s 26 & 36 (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 06 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Tuesday, 06 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Manor Park Road, Rawcliffe Croft. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services throughout the works period.
(5) MOOR LANE, STRENSALL
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Moor Lane, Strensall between the projected south-eastern boundaries of property no’s 46 & 52 (closed road) during the period when gas works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 06 May 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 12 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Ox Carr Lane, York Road, Princess Road. The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
