Hertfordshire - Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK/FOOTPATH SITUATED ON THE SOUTH EAST SIDE OF ORCHID CLOSE, HATFIELD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cyclists and pedestrians from using the cycle track/footpath situated on the south east side of Orchid Close, Hatfield from its junction with Campion Road north westwards then north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Orchid Close, a distance of approximately 29m (the “Cycle Track/Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the cycle track/footpath situated on the north side of Campion Road, the cycle track/footpath situated on the south west side of Bluebell Way and the cycle track/footpath situated on the south east side of Orchid Close.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the cycle track/footpath.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 12 May 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the cycle track/footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CRANBORNE CRESCENT, POTTERS BAR) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Cranborne Crescent, Potters Bar from a point in line with the southern boundary of No. 70 Cranborne Crescent north eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m to the northern boundary of No. 66 Cranborne Crescent, a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).

An alternative route will be via Cranborne Crescent.

The Order is needed because utility service connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 12 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF A1001 COMET WAY, HATFIELD AND A1000 BROADWATER ROAD, WELWYN GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:–

  1. that length of A1001 Comet Way, Hatfield from its junction with the A1057 St Albans Road West/B6426 Cavendish Way roundabout north eastwards to its junction with the B197 Wellfield Road/Hatfield Avenue roundabout, a distance of approximately 1107m.

    An alternative route will be via A1001 (Comet Way/Roehyde Way/ South Way), A1000 (Great North Road/Hertford Road), A414 (Hertford Road/Mount Pleasant Lane/Great North Road) and A1001 Comet Way or via A1001 Comet Way, A414 (Great North Road/ Hertford Road), A1000 (Hertford Road/Great North Road) and A1001 (South Way/Roehyde Way/Comet Way).

  2. that length of A1000 Broadwater Road, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with B195 Bridge Road south westwards to its junction with the A1000 Chequers/A6129 Broadwater Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 1000m.

    An alternative route will be via B195 (Bridge Road/The Campus roundabout/Bridge Road/Valley Road), B197 Great North Road, B653 Stanborough Road and A6129 (Stanborough Road/ Broadwater Road) or via A6129 (Broadwater Road/Stanborough Road), B653 Stanborough Road, B197 Great North Road and B195 (Valley Road/Bridge Road/The Campus/The Campus Roundabout/The Campus/Bridge Road).

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 10 May 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN LEMSFORD ROAD AND B197 WELLFIELD ROAD, HATFIELD) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:–

  1. that length of Lemsford Road, Hatfield from its junction with the B6426 Queensway/B6426 Cavendish Way roundabout north westwards, northwards and north eastwards to its junction with B197 Wellfield Road, a distance of approximately 840m.

    An alternative route will be via B6426 Queensway and B197 Wellfield Road.

  2. that length of B197 Wellfield Road, Hatfield from its junction with the B197 French Horn Lane/B6426 Queensway roundabout north westwards to its junction with the A1001 Comet Way/Hatfield Avenue roundabout, a distance of approximately 867m.

    An alternative route will be via B6426 (Queensway/Cavendish Way) and A1001 Comet Way.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

    (TEMPORARY 40MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON A1001 SOUTH WAY, HATFIELD) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 40mph on that length of A1001 South Way, Hatfield from its junction with the A1001 Roehyde Way/A1(M) (junction 2) roundabout north eastwards for a distance of approximately 320m (“the Road”), when signs are in place.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN RABLEY HEATH ROAD, CODICOTE) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Rabley Heath Road, Codicote from its junction with B656 Codicote Road north eastwards, north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 2218m (“the Road”).

    An alternative route will be via B656 (Codicote Road/High Street), Bury Lane, Lilly Pond, Park Lane, Slip Lane, and Rabley Heath Road.

    ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HALL LANE, WOOLMER GREEN) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hall Lane, Woolmer Green from its junction with Bridge Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 17m (“the Road”), except for access.

    There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are taking place under that Order. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

    The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
