Polegate / Eastbourne / Westham - Various Temporary Traffic Orders
What is happening?
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
The East Sussex (U7739 Clement Lane, Polegate) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Clement Lane – for its entire length.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 1 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 1 and 9 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7267 Victoria Road, Polegate) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Victoria Road – from the junction with U7267 Victoria Close to the junction with C40 High Street.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C40 High Street – B2247 Hailsham Road – U7267 Victoria Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 28 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 April and 2 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2115 Watts Lane, Eastbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Watts Lane – from the junction with U2112 Selwyn Road to the junction with U2108 Mill Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2112 Selwyn Road – U2110 De Roos Road – U2108 Mill Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 28 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 28 and 29 April 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C708 Hankham Hall Road, Westham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Hankham Hall Road – from the junction with U7101 Foords Lane to the junction with U7100 Peelings Lane.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C708 Hankham Hall Road, Hankham Street, Glynleigh Road – B2104 Hailsham Road – B2247 Dittons Road – C712 Rattle Road – C708 Gallows Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 30 April 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 30 April and 2 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2222 Old Drove, Eastbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 No.2
To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Old Drove – for its entire length
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 12 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 12 and 14 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A259 The Goffs, Eastbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
The Goffs – from the junction with U2100 Moat Croft Road to the junction with U2037 Southfields Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 High Street, Church Street, East Dean Road, Eastbourne Road, Friston Hill, Seaford Road, East Dean Road, Eastbourne Road, Sutton Road, Sutton Park Road, Clinton Place, Station Approach, Claremont Road, Buckle bypass, Newhaven Road, Seaford Road, Denton roundabout, The Drove, B&Q roundabout, Drove Road – A26 New Road Industrial Area – A26(T) New Road Industrial Area, Beddingham Road South, Beddingham Road, Newhaven Road – A27(T) Beddingham roundabout, Eastbourne Road, Lewes Road, Drusillas roundabout, Lewes Road, Eastbourne Road – A2270 Eastbourne Road, Willingdon Road, Crossways roundabout, Willingdon Road, Upperton Road – A259 The Goffs and vice versa.
The Order commences 15 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 00:05hrs to 07:00hrs on 15 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
