Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Cycle Track between Gandalf’s Ride and Dawberry Place, South Woodham Ferrers) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the Order: To temporarily close the cycle track, South Woodham Ferrers, in the City of Chelmsford from its junction with Gandalf’s Ride to its junction with Dawberry Place for approximately 273 meters.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 21 April 2025 to 21 July 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the cycle track is undertaken.

An alternative route will be via Gandalf’s Rise, Inchbonnie Road, Ferrers Road, Hullbridge Road, Chamberlains Ride and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 21 April 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Down Hall Road, Rayleigh)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Down Hall Road, Rayleigh in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Hulbridge Road to a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M123918 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while valve replacement works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Hullbridge Road, Rawreth Lane, Exmouth Drive, Teignmouth Drive, Down Hall Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hazlemere Road, Thundersley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Hazlemere Road, Thundersley in the Borough of Castle Point, from a point approximately 35m south west of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M122338 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on site. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while valve replacement works and/or diversion works are undertaken.

An alternative route is available via Hazlemere Road, Church Road, Manor Road, Kents Hill Road North and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on the 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(High Road, South Benfleet) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (London Road, South Benfleet) (Temporary Introduction of a No Right Turn and a No Left Turn) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of High Road, South Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a southerly direction.

  2. To temporarily introduce a no right hand turn from London Road, South Benfleet into High Road, South Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point for the duration of the above closure only.

  3. To temporarily introduce a no left hand turn from London Road, South Benfleet into High Road, South Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point for the duration of the above closure only.

The closure/restrictions are scheduled to commence on 15th May 2025 for 1 night (23:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WD3P553FSB02 & BC008WD3P553FSB03 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/restrictions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via London Road, Sadlers Farm Roundabout, Bread And Cheese Hill, Kiln Road, London Road, Benfleet Road, Essex Way, High Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Newton Hall Gardens, Ashingdon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Newton Hall Gardens, Ashingdon in the District of Rochford, from an approximate distance of 110m north east then south east of its junction with Assandune Close for a distance of approximately 35m in a south easterly then southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th May 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30077924438 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while electricity works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Timberlog Lane, Barstable)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Timberlog Lane, Barstable in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Timberlog Close to its junction with Mopsies Roundabout a distance of approximately 125m (for south bound only). The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH23824200 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Broadmayne, Broadmayne Roundabout, Roundacre, Roundacre Roundabout, Nether Mayne, Fobbing Farm Roundabout, Nether Mayne, Five Bells Roundabout North, London Road, Clay Hill Road, Timberlog Lane.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Lakeside, Billericay)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Lakeside, Billericay in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 130m south west of its junction with Perry Street for a distance of approximately 40m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th June 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7031001411150 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new service works are undertaken by Cadent.

(Spophams, Lee Chapel South)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Spophams, Lee Chapel South in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Botelers to its junction with Morrells a distance of approximately 30m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2381449 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Spophams, The Knares, Rantree Fold and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, Castle Point) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (Streetworks No.1) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close those lengths of road in the Borough of Castle Point as detailed in the Schedule.

The works are scheduled to commence after 10th April 2025, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

The Order came into effect on 10th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

Description:

Phase 1: From its junction with London Road to its junction with Church Road a distance of approximately 95m.

Phase 2: From its junction with Church Road to its junction with Ormonde Avenue a distance of approximately 185m.

Phase 3: From its junction with Ormonde Avenue to its junction with St Davids Drive a distance of approximately 90m.

Alternative Route:

Phase 1: London Road, Broughton Road or Scrub Lane, Rectory Road, London Road (with access only into Woodfield Road).

Phase 2: Woodfield Road, London Road, Meadow Road, Bilton Road, Scrub Lane, Rectory Road, London Road.

Phase 3: Heather Drive, Ormonde Gardens, St. Davids Drive and vice versa.

Road: Church Road, Hadleigh

Description: From its junction with Woodfield Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction.

Alternative Route: Church Road, Rectory Road, London Road.

Heather Drive, Hadleigh

From its junction with Woodfield Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

Alternative Route: Ormonde Gardens, St Davids Drive, Woodfield Road, Scrub Lane, Rectory Road, London Road.

Ormonde Avenue, Hadleigh

From its junction with Woodfield Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

Alternative Route: Heather Drive, Ormonde Gardens, St Davids Drive and vice versa.

St Davids Drive, Hadleigh

From its junction with Woodfield Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south easterly direction.

Alternative Route: Heather Drive, Ormonde Gardens, St Davids Drive and vice versa.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.5) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the Borough of Basildon as specified in the schedule to this Order.

  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary “No Waiting at Any Time” restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 24th April 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter drop and advance warning signs on the roads.
