CROYDON COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984, SECTION 14 AS AMENDED

THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991 AND ALL OTHER ENABLING POWERS

HIGH STREET & SOUTH NORWOOD HILL, SOUTH NORWOOD

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC

  1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate repairs to a defective washout box frame and cover in the carriageway on behalf of Thames Water, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements in High Street and South Norwood Hill, South Norwood.

  2. During the works, Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and buses will be banned from turning into South Norwood Hill from High Street, South Norwood.

  3. Whilst the restriction remains in force the alternative routes for diverted vehicles will be as detailed below.

    • Westbound - via Manor Road, A215, Portland Road, Spring Lane, Shirley Road, Addiscombe Road, Chepstow Road, Barclay Road, A232, A236, Mitcham Road, Sumner Road, St James’s Road, Windmill Road, Whitehorse Road, and Whitehorse Lane.

    • Eastbound - via Croydon Road, Anerley Road, Anerley Hill, and Church Road.

  4. The Order will come into operation on 03 May 2025, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed within two days. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:

    (a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.

    (b) Cars.

    (c) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

    (c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER

VE DAY STREET PARTIES

  1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate the staging of VE Day celebrations they intend to make a Traffic Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

    1. The general effect of the Order is to facilitate the holding of street parties on various borough roads to allow residents to celebrate VE Day on 03, 04 or 05 May 2025.

    2. The streets which will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic are listed in Schedule 1 (for parties to be held on 03 May 2025), Schedule 2 (for parties to be held on 04 May 2025), and Schedule 3 (for parties to be held on 05 May 2025) along with the start and finish times of each closure.

    3. The provisions of the Order will not prevent access being maintained for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to any road to which the Order relates, or to any other premises accessible from, and only from, such a road. Existing parking places or one-way workings within those streets or lengths of streets specified in the Schedules to this Notice will be suspended.

    4. The provisions of the Order will only apply during such times as indicated by traffic signs.

    5. Nothing in the Order shall apply: a) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or Civil Enforcement Officer.

      b) to any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
