TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS – OFF-STREET PARKING AT FORT NELSON, PORTCHESTER

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council (“the Council”) proposes to make the above-mentioned Order, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 32, 35, 35(1), 47, 49, 53 and 122(1) and (2) of the Act, as amended by the Traffic Management Act 2004 (“the 2004 Act”) and the Road Traffic Regulation (Parking) Act 1986, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to implement Pay & Display parking at the off-street parking location at Fort Nelson in Portchester, subject to the following schedule:

(i) Portchester Library, West Street, Portchester, PO16 9TX (Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday: 09.30 – 17.00; Saturday: 09.30 – 13.00)

(ii) Fareham Borough Council, Civic Offices Customer Services, Civic Way, Fareham, PO16 7AZ (Opening hours: Monday to Friday 08.45 – 17.15)

(iii) Hampshire County Council Headquarters, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UJ (Opening hours: Mondays to Thursdays 8.30 – 5.15; Fridays 8.30 – 4.45)

OBJECTIONS AND OTHER REPRESENTATIONS: All objections/other representations in respect of this proposal must be made in writing to The Traffic Orders Team, Safer Roads and Parking, Economy, Transport and Environment, The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UD or email public.notices@hants.gov.uk quoting reference: - A20908/MLB, by Friday 9th May 2025. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, the Council may be required to make any objections or representations received open to public inspection. Anyone wishing to inspect the proposals in mobile format may be able to view the proposal online. The Order, if made, will be known as “The Hampshire (Fort Nelson Off-Street Parking Places) Order 2025”.
