Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Clearway Restrictions

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Maldon Road, Bradwell-on-Sea)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Maldon Road, Bradwell-on-Sea in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 110m south east of its junction with Waterside Road for a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008GEA90867547SB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while overhead fibre cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Maldon Road, Waterside Road, Orplands, Trusses Road, Downhall Road, High Street, South Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Steeple Road, Southminster)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Steeple Road, Southminster in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 665m south of its junction with Foxhall Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a southerly then south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN0133881273 – Essex and Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Foxhall Road, Green Lane, Southminster Road, Tillingham Road, Cripplegate, North End, Queenborough Road, High Street, Pantile Hill, Queen Street, Scotts Hill, David Fisher Way, Steeple Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)

Order (No.8) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway as per the schedule to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the restriction will be in force.

The Essex County Council (Maldon District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 24th April 2025, exact dates will be specified on one.network. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

Road: High Street/Silver Road, Burnham on Crouch

Description: From the junction of Riverside Road for a distance of approximately 100m in an easterly then north easterly direction.

(Ship Road, Burnham-on-Crouch)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ship Road, Burnham-on-Crouch in the District of Maldon from a point approximately 50m south west of its junction with Orchard Road for a distance of approximately 85m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008EAWQS494JMAY01 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new service works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Ship Road, High Street, Riverside Road, Orchard Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
