What is happening?
Essex County Council
Implement: Prohibition of Motor Vehicles between the hours of 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday
Road: Culver Street West
Direction: From its junction with Head Street, east for approximately 198 metres
Bollards to be erected at times outlined in the Bollard Management Plan
Implement: Prohibition of Motor Vehicles between the hours of Midnight to 7am and 10am to Midnight Monday to Saturday and Sunday at any time.
Road: Culver Street East
Direction: From its junction to the west of St. Nicholas Street West for its entire length
Bollards to be erected at times outlined in the Bollard Management Plan
Implement: Prohibition of Motor Vehicles between the hours of 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
Road: Long Wyre Street
Direction: From its junction with Culver Street East South for its entire length
Bollards to be erected at times outlined in the Bollard Management Plan
* Exemptions to these restrictions will apply at all times for emergency service vehicles and maintenance vehicles. All other access to St Nicholas Square via Culver Street East/ St Nicholas Street will be overseen by the City Council and Colchester Market.
‘The Essex County Council (Culver Street East, Culver Street West and Long Wyre Street, Colchester) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) Order 2011’ is hereby revoked insofar as it relates to Culver Street East, Culver Street West and Long Wyre Street, all other roads not mentioned above shall remain in force by virtue of the existing Order.

(Clears Road, Layer Marney) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Clears Road, Layer Marney in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Winters Hill to its junction with Haynes Green Road a distance of approximately 905m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2374363 – Essex Highways). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

(Culver Street East, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Culver Street East, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point of approximately 35m south west of its junction with Queen Street to its junction with St Nicholas Street a distance of approximately 115m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th May 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30069388204 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new cable connections works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

(Ellis Road, Boxted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ellis Road, Boxted in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Mill Road to its junction with Queens Head Road a distance of approximately 530m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH23785032 – Essex County Council). (Elmstead Road, Wivenhoe) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Elmstead Road, Wivenhoe in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Rectory Road to its junction with Alresford Road a distance of approximately 125m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT00110151132 – Affinity Water). (Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Bromley Road to its junction with Hickory Avenue a distance of approximately 450m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH23803055 – Essex County Council). (Nunns Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Nunns Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Short Cut Road to its junction with North Hill a distance of approximately 70m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 40 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231012681 – GTM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while building repair works are undertaken by GTM.

(Sandrartin Crescent, Stanway) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Suspension of One Way Restriction) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Sandrartin Crescent, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 105m north east from its north west of its junction with Cygnet Walk for a distance of approximately 20m in a north westerly direction.
To temporarily suspend the one way restriction in Sandrartin Crescent, Stanway, Colchester, from 110 metres south of its junction with Churchfields Avenue proceeding in a north east direction for a distance of 173 metres as detailed in ‘The Essex County Council (Stanrartin Crescent, Stanway, Colchester) (One Way) Order 2010’ for the duration of the closure.
The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 14th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD037SM65689943 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

(Blue Road, Tiptree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Blue Road, Tiptree in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Vine Road to its junction with Perry Road a distance of approximately 170m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th April 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2383826 – Essex County Council). The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while trial hole works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

(Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hawthorn Avenue, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Hickory Avenue to its other junction with Hickory Avenue a distance of approximately 475m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th April 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2379040 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

(Head Street Cycle Lane, Colchester) (Temporary Closure of Cycle Lane) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Head Street Cycle Lane, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 45m north of its junction with Headgate Court for a distance of approximately 30m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (NK103DIS161279-2-01 – Virgin Media). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting works are undertaken by Virgin Media.

that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Museum Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with High Street to its junction with Castle Bailey a distance of approximately 50m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th April 2025 for 11 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30027176317 – UK Power Networks). (New Church Road, West Bergholt) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of New Church Road, West Bergholt in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Chapel Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction.
To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.
“The Essex County Council (Colchester Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

To temporarily close that length of North Station Road Bus Lane, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Essex Hall Roundabout to its junction with The Albert Roundabout as detailed in ‘The Colchester Borough Council (Various Roads, Colchester) (Reserved Bus Lane) Order 2000’. The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st May 2025 for 2 nights (21:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP20168243312 – Essex County Council).
