Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Chickney Road, Henham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Chickney Road, Henham in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Fieldview Close to its junction with Maitland Close a distance of approximately 110m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (K140RFSI2051719-RC – Gigaclear). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while blockage clearance and polling works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

An alternative route is available via Chickney Road, Henham Road, Thaxted Road, Bendysh Road, Station Road, Town Street, Park Street, Broxted Road, Thaxted Road, Mill Road, Crow Street, High Street and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Flitch Lane & Station Road, Great Dunmow)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Flitch Lane, Great Dunmow in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Harris Green for a distance of approximately 30m in a north easterly direction to its end.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Station Road, Great Dunmow in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 20m south east of its junction with Sunbank for a distance of approximately 10m in a south easterly direction to its end.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 12th May 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (N5004P102421N0023577-R22 & N5004P102421TBC/R5 – The Electricity Network Company Limited).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while reinforcement of HV network works are undertaken by The Electricity Network Company Limited.

No alternative routes are available.

The Order will come into effect on 24th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Browns End Road, Broxted)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Browns End Road, Broxted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 770m north west the west of its junction with Water Lane for a distance of approximately 280m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th April 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WG1D5P2DSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Browns End Road, Water Lane, Muscombs Lane, Maltings Bridge Lane, Moor End Lane, Church End, Brick End and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Stebbing Road, Felsted)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Stebbing Road, Felsted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 490m south west then south east of its junction with Dunmow Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th April 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06060115/AP – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water supply works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Stebbing Road, Dunmow Road, Braintree Road, School Lane, Garnetts Lane and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
