THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

NOTICE TO EXEMPT LAND FROM ACCESS RIGHTS

Notice is hereby given under Section 11(9) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 (“The Act”) that on 28 April 2025, the City of Edinburgh Council made the Calton Hill (Beltane Fire Festival) Order 2025 (“the Order”) under Section 11(1) of the Act.

The effect of the Order is to exempt Calton Hill from the access rights which would otherwise be exercisable in respect of that land by virtue of Part 1 of the Act.

The purpose for which the Order is made is to close off public access to Calton Hill for the purposes of charging admission to the Beltane Fire Festival from the evening of Saturday 30th April 2025 and to accommodate safe working practices between the 28th April to the 2nd May in the run up to the event, limit access during the event to audience only and to facilitate the de-rig.

The Order will take effect from 07.00 on 28 April and will expire at 12.00 on 2 May 2025, unless revoked earlier.
