What is happening?

NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE WILTSHIRE COUNCIL PARISH OF LONGBRIDGE DEVERILL

PATH NO. 5 DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above-named order was confirmed as made on 27th March 2025, under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1953. The effect of the order is to divert the entire width and length of that section of the path known as Longbridge Deverill 5, at The Manor House, Hill Deverill, BA12 7EQ, leading from OS Grid Reference ST 87165 40124, in a broadly westerly direction for approximately 120 metres to OS Grid Reference ST 87051 40162, then leading in a broadly northerly direction for approximately 190 metres to ST 87076 40337. A new route is provided leading, from OS Grid Reference ST 87165 40124, in a broadly northerly direction within the fenced corridor, for approximately 180 metres to ST 87178 40299 and then leading in a west north westerly direction for approximately 100 metres to ST 87076 40337, the path having a width of 2.5 metres. The order modifies the definitive map, and statement dated 1953 accordingly. A copy of the order and order map has been placed and may be seen free of charge at Definitive Map and Highway Records, Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Trowbridge, BA14 8JN, 0900 - 1700 weekdays by appointment. The order came into force on 27th March 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 17th April 2025 make an application to the High Court. Notice is hereby given that the terms of Article 1 in the above order have been satisfied and that both Articles 1 and 2 have come into force. The new highway was certified as being in a fit condition for use by the public on 3rd April 2025 and became highway maintainable at the public expense on that date.
