What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Avenue Road, Rowley Regis)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Avenue Road between Cardale Street and Station Road. Traffic will be diverted via Cardale Street, A4034 Oldbury Road, Station Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 27/05/2025 effective from 28/04/2025.
Purpose – to facilitate the installation of a new gas main by Cadent Gas Ltd. For more information contact Lauren Bentham of Trinity (working on behalf of Cadent Gas Ltd) – 07821 849549.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Station Road and Thompson Road, Oldbury)
(Temporary Road Closures) Order 2025
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Station Road from the junction of Western Road (eastern side) to the entrance for Alcohols Limited (western side) and Thompson Road at the junction of Station Road. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Station Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Crosswells Road, Vicarage Road, Tat Bank Road, Western Road and vice versa. Thompson Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Highbury Road and Bloxcidge Street to join the Station Road diversion route. The order also intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along both footways in Station Road from the junction of Western Road (eastern side) to the entrance to Alcohols Limited (western side) for the duration of the above works. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Thompson Road, New Henry Street, Langley Green Road, Mill Lane and vice versa. The maximum duration for the initial closure is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 27/04/2025 effective from 26/04/2025 (10pm - 9am). Purpose – to facilitate access to install a new railway crossing pedestal by Network Rail Limited. For more information please contact Dhillon Hardeep of Network Rail Limited on 0113 277 5360. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Corngreaves Road, Cradley Heath) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Corngreaves Road, which will be closed from north of the junction with Hawne Lane to south of the junction with Corngreaves Walk. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Overend Road, Butchers Lane, Colley Lane, Colley Gate, Windmill Hill, Drews Holloway, Belle Vale and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 30/04/2025 (8am - 5pm). Purpose – to facilitate access for remedial works by MJ Quinn on behalf of BT. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Forge Lane and Park Lane, West Bromwich)
(Temporary Road Closures) Order 2025
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Forge Lane, which will be closed from the junction of Newton Road to the junction of Park Lane and Park Lane from the junction of Forge Lane to the entrance for the Swan Pool car park (northern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Forge Lane and Park Lane closures – traffic will be diverted (westbound) via Newton Road, All Saints Way, The Expressway, Birmingham Road and vice versa. A further traffic diversion route will be signed (eastbound) via Newton Road, Hamstead Road, Hamstead Hill, Handsworth Wood Road, Church Lane, Oxhill Road, Sandwell Road, Holyhead Road, Birmingham Road and vice versa. Forge Lane closure – the maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 10/06/2025 effective from 30/04/2025 (24hr). Park Lane closure – the maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 01/07/2025 effective from 11/06/2025 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access to install a new duct run for a high voltage service cable by National Grid Electricity Distribution.
