What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(BERINSFIELD) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit within Berinsfield, replacing the 30mph speed limit in the process, leading out to the following points:

  1. Fane Drive – a point 35 metres north of its junction with Wimblestraw Road,

  2. Wimblestraw Road – its junction with the road leading east from the A4074/A415 Berinsfield roundabout.

Existing 40mph speed limits on the A4074 Oxford to Reading road, and the A415 Abingdon Road remain unaffected by these proposals.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Berinsfield) (Speed Limits) Order 2015 is revoked/replaced.

(APPLEFORD PARISH)

(20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit throughout Appleford, replacing the 30mph speed limit in its entirety in the process, leading out to the following points:

  1. B4016 Appleford Road – a point 295 metres west of Chambral Close,

  2. B4016 Main Road – a point 45 metres southeast of its junction with the access to the Appleford railway level-crossing.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Restricted Roads) (Appleford Parish) Order 2000 is revoked/replaced.

(FRILFORD, FYFIELD AND TUBNEY AREA)

(SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 14 April 2025 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 21 April introduces a 20mph speed limit in Fyfield village (near Abingdon) replacing the previous 30mph speed limit, leading out to the following points:

  1. Digging Lane – a point 36 metres north of the A420 Oxford-Swindon Road,

  2. Netherton Lane – a point 60 metres south of its junction with the unnamed road between Appleton & Longworth.

Additionally, a small 36 metre section of 50mph speed limit is introduced on Digging Lane, in place of the 60mph National speed limit – between the new 20mph speed limit at the southern end of the village, and its junction with the A420 (which is currently also 50mph).

The Oxfordshire County Council (Frilford, Fyfield and Tubney Area) (Speed Limits) Order 2024 is revoked/replaced as necessary.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Benson, Churchfield Lane

Prohibition of Through Traffic and

Temporary One-Way Traffic suspension

Date of Order: 28 April 2025

Coming into force: 6 May 2025

This Order is being introduced because of water main pipe installation which is anticipated to be completed on 17 May 2025. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in Churchfield Lane. The one-way restriction will be temporarily suspended during the works period.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via the A4074 – B4009 – Churchfield Lane.

The Oxfordshire County Council (Churchfield Lane, Benson) (One Way Traffic) Order 2006 will be suspended for the duration of the closure.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15310/MR)
