What is happening?

Somerset Council Various Roads, Minehead in the Parish of Dunster

(Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2025

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary traffic restrictions as detailed in the Schedules below.

This Order will come into operation on the 2nd day of May 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. Exemptions are provided in the Order for vehicles associated with the works and for residents requiring access and egress. The Works are to be phased, as signed on site and are expected to commence on the 6th day of May 2025 until the 17th day of June 2025 (between 0000 hours and 2359 hours) to enable Octavius Infrastructure Ltd working on behalf of Somerset Council to carry out works to widen the cycleway. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs.

Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles Marsh Street, Minehead – from its junction with the A39 Minehead to Williton Road to its junction with Bremis Road

Schedule 2 Temporary 10mph Speed Limit
(for convoy working)

A39 Minehead to Williton Road, Minehead – from a point 325 metres southeast of its junction with the Old A39 Ellicombe in a south easterly direction for a distance of 265 metres

Schedule 3 Temporary 30mph Speed Limit

A39 Minehead to Williton Road, Minehead – from its junction with the Old A39 Ellicombe in a south easterly direction for a distance of 870 metres A396 Dunster Steep, Minehead – from its junction with the A39 Minehead to Williton Road for a distance of 40 metres

(Temporary Prohibition of Shared Cycle Path) Shared Cycle Path – from its junction with Marsh Lane to its junction with Marsh Street

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
