Order 2025

The Council on 14/4/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of footpath/footbridge a 110 metre length of Kingsgate Footbridge between its junctions with Church Street, New Elvet and Bow Lane, Durham to enable bridge cleaning and examination works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to pedestrian traffic from the eastern side of the closure from Church Street, north on New Elvet, west over Elvet Bridge and south on Saddler Street and North Bailey to the western side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The proposed works are required between 8pm and 6am from Monday 14 April 2025 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 3 nights followed by 4 nights the following week. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
