THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH AT STRIDINGEDGE WASHINGTON) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all pedestrians along the footpath, from the extended northern property boundary of 185 Stridingedge for a distance of 43 metres in a southerly direction. The Order is required to facilitate gas repair works on or near the footpath. The Order will come into operation on 10th June 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 6 months, however it is estimated that the closure will only be in operation for 11 days from commencement of the works. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the above footpath (except personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Pedestrian access to affected properties will be maintained throughout the closure. A diversion for pedestrians will be provided via the adjacent highway network. Dated 15th April 2025 Patrick Melia OBE, Chief Executive, Sunderland City Council, City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA
