What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC ARDELEY 4
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians, horse riders, cyclists and vehicles from using that length of Byway Open to All Traffic Ardeley 4, heading east from The Bungalow towards Wood End for a distance of 325m.
Alternative route: for pedestrians via Ardeley 1, 2 and 21. For all other users, via Ardeley 8, 32 and 102.
The purpose of the Order is to enable utilities works to take place.
The section of Byway Open to All Traffic Ardeley 4 will be closed on or after 25 April 2025 for up to 1 day, when signs are in place.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK SITUATED ON THE WEST SIDE OF A1072 GUNNELS WOOD ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle track situated on the west side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, Stevenage from its easternmost junction with Cavendish Way then westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 347m (“the Cycle Track”).
An alternative route will be via the cycle track situated on the west side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the subway situated beneath A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the cycle track situated on the east side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, the cycle track situated beneath the A1072 Gunnels Wood Road/Bridge Road West roundabout and the cycle track situated on the west side of A1072 Gunnels Wood Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 28 April 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN STEVENAGE, OFFLEY, ST IPPOLYTS AND KNEBWORTH) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
that length of Longcroft Road, Stevenage from its junction with Longcroft Road south eastwards to its junction with Lawrence Avenue, a distance of approximately 140m.
that length of road which will be via Greydells Road, Sish Lane, Barclay Crescent and Sish Lane.
the road situated on the east side of No.15 Sish Lane, Stevenage from its junction with Sish Lane north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
that length of Southsea Road, Stevenage from its junction with Fishers Green Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 50m.
An alternative route will be via Fishers Green Road, Lymington Road, Jubilee Road and Southsea Road.
that length of Stony Croft, Stevenage from a point in line with the western boundary of No.56 Stony Croft south westwards and north westwards for a point in line with the western boundary of No.19 Stony Croft, a distance of approximately 38m.
An alternative route will be via Stony Croft and Claymores.
that length of Waterdell Lane, St Ippolyts from its junction with High Street north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 408m.
An alternative route will be via High Street, Hitchin Road, Gosmore Road, B656 London Road and Waterdell Lane.
that length of Watton Road, Knebworth from its junction with B197 Stevenage Road north eastwards to its junction with Bell Close, a distance of approximately 288m.
An alternative route will be via B197 (Stevenage Road/London Road/Monkswood Way), A602 Broadhall Way, Hertford Road and Watton Road.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Chalk Hill, Cockernhoe from its junction with Lilley Bottom south westwards, south eastwards and south westwards to its junction with Luton Road, a distance of approximately 1734m (“the Road”), except for access.
The Order also prohibits all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
Alternative vehicular routes will be via Lilley Bottom, Stony Lane, Lower Road and Brick Kiln Lane.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 14 April 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTPATH FRONTING NOS.11-21 NIGHTINGALE WALK AND THE FOOTPATH SITUATED BETWEEN NO.16 AND NO.19 LONG HYDE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath (“the Footpaths”):-
the footpath fronting Nos.11-21 Nightingale Walk, Stevenage from its northernmost junction with Nightingale Walk south eastwards for a distance of approximately 43m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east side of Nightingale Walk, the footway situated on the south east side of Pankhurst Crescent, the footway situated on the south west side of Cavell Walk, the footpath fronting Nos.12-22 Cavell Walk, the footway situated on the south west side of Cavell Walk, the footway situated on the north side of Pankhurst Crescent and the footway situated on the north east side of Nightingale Walk.
the footpath situated between No.16 and No.19 Long Hyde, Stevenage from its junction with Wigram Way north eastwards to its junction with Shephall Way, a distance of approximately 89m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east side of Wigram Way, the footpath fronting Nos.1-15 Little Hyde and the footway situated on the south west side of Shephall Way.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpaths.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 15 April 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpaths.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of East Street/Hexton Road, Lilley from its junction with West Street north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with Lilley Public Bridleway and Public Footpath No.013, a distance of approximately 1010m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via West Street, Lilley Bottom Road, Lilley Bottom Road, Felway Hill (C134 unnamed road), A505 (Offley Bypass/Moorhead Hill/Offley Road), B655 (Pirton Road/Hexton Road/Hitchin Road/Barton Road), Lilley Road and the road to via Hexton Road, Lilley Road, B655 (Pirton Road/Hitchin Road/Hexton Road/Pirton Road), A505 (Offley Road/Moormead Hill/Offley Bypass), Offley Hill, Luton Road, Hollybush Hill, Lilley Bottom Road and West Street.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

An alternative route will be via B656 (Queen Street/Park Street/Hitchin Hill), A602 Park Way, A505 (Old Park Road/Bedford Road/Shippons Road/Buryan Road/Nightingale Road) and B656 (Walsworth Road/Queen Street) or via B656 (Queen Street/Walsworth Road), A505 (Nightingale Road/Buryan Road/Shippons Road/Bedford Road/Paynes Park), A602 Park Way and B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street/Queen Street).

the footpath situated to the rear of Nos.88-92 Maddles, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Pryor Way south eastwards for a distance of approximately 94m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the east side of Pryor Way, the footway situated on the north east side of Maddles and the footpath situated between No.83 and No.88 Maddles.
the footpath situated on the east side of Nos.61-67 Maddles, Letchworth Garden City from its northernmost junction with Oakhill north westwards, south westwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 120m.
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north west side of Oakhill.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpaths.
