What is happening?

(Footpath 59 & 58, Rivenhall) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 59 and Footpath 58, Rivenhall in the District of Braintree as below.

Footpath No | Description

Footpath 59, Rivenhall | From its junction with footpath 58, north for approximately 188 metres.

Footpath 58, Rivenhall | For its entire length from Rectory Lane to its junction with footpath 59 and footpath 60.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 23 April 2025 to 23 September 2025 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the removal and road construction is undertaken on the housing development.

Alternative route: will be via footpath 60, Evans Way leading to the Golf Course. 24 hour access will be provided on an alternative route.

The Order will come into effect on 23 April 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Bardfield Road, Finchingfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bardfield Road, Finchingfield in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 130m south west of the junction with The Hopgrounds for a distance of approximately 290m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP0231021614 – GTM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bellmouth construction and kerbing works are undertaken by GTM.

An alternative route is available via Crown Street, Brook Street, High Street, Dunmow Road, Pouncestreet, Dunmow Road From Lindsell To Duck End, Dunmow Road From Dean To Broadway, The Broadway, Church End, Church Street, Lime Tree Hill, Beaumont Hill, Dunmow Road, Linden Road, The Green, Wethersfield Road, Nunnery Green, Wethersfield Road, Great Sampford Road, Thaxted Road, Hill Road, Finchingfield Road, Hawkins Hill, Sampford Road, Bennett End Road and vice versa (with access only into The Green, Bardfield Street, Finchingfield Road Bridge End and Bridge Street). The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hanover Bridge, Feering) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Hanover Bridge, Feering in the District of Braintree, from its junction with New Lane for a distance of approximately 20m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th May 2025 for 1 night (00:01–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KZ3LTN7J1H-403131-110525 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for the works with appropriate signs showing and displayed on one.network. The closure is required while maintenance works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

The alternative route will be via Hanover Square, Hanover Bridge and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mill Hill, Braintree & Bocking) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Mill Hill, Braintree & Bocking in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 170m north west of its junction with Kings Way for a distance of approximately 210m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th May 2025 for 6 days, or where stated on a valid permit (230163537722 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pipe repair works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Chapel Hill, Lakes Road, Manor Street, Trinovantian Way, Railway Street, Rose Hill and vice versa (with access only into Mill Hill).

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Bell Lane, Great Bardfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the Order: To temporarily close that length of Bell Lane, Great Bardfield in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 70m north west of its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 75m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310772221 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for the works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via End, Town Street, Watling Street, The Street, Dunmow Road, Braintree Road, Great Sampford Road, Thaxted Road, Mill Road, Sampford Road, Little Bardfield Road, Bendlowes Road, Bell Hill and vice versa. The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Church Street/Church Hill, Kelvedon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Street/Church Hill, Kelvedon in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 105m north west of the junction with Thorne Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th April 2025 for 1 night (00:01–06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KZ3TMU41-51-57-270425 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while inspection works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Church Street, High Street, London Road, A12, Colemans Bridge, Colchester Road, Newland Street, The Avenue, Spinks Lane, Bradford Street, Bocking End, Bradford Street, London Road, Braintree Road, Cressing Road, Cressing Road Roundabout, Long Green, Ashes Road, Lanham Green Road, Lanham Green, Boars Tye Road, Western Road, Parkgate Road, Hollow Road, Church Hill and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Braintree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, Temporary Introduction of a Clearway & Temporary Suspension of Weight Restriction) Order (No.5) 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the District of Braintree as specified in Schedule 1.

  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads and in Schedule 2 for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

  3. The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time" restrictions and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall continue in force.

  4. To temporarily suspend the weight restriction in that length of Maldon Road, Witham from the length of Sauls Bridge as detailed in “The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Witham) (Weight Restriction) Order 2001” for the duration of the closures only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall continue in force.

  5. To temporarily suspend the weight restriction in that length of Bridge Street/ Newland Street, Witham from the junction with Spa Road to its junction with Maldon Road as detailed in “The Essex County Council (Bridge Street and Newland Street, Witham) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2007” for the duration of the closures only.

  6. To temporarily suspend the weight restriction in that length of Wickham Road, Wickham Bishops from its junction with Station Road to its junction with The Street as detailed in “The Essex County Council (The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Wickham Bishops) (Weight Restriction) Order 2001” for the duration of the closures only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and that Order shall continue in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 3rd April 2025; exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the road closures via the site letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
