What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Integrated Cycle Track and Footpath 96, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the integrated Cycle Track and Footpath 96, in the Borough of Colchester. Between Cowdray Avenue and Havering Close.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 14 April 2025 for one day or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to undertake a detailed structure examination.

No alternative route available.

The Order will come into effect on 14 April 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Alderton Road, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Alderton Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Harwich Road to its junction with Nayland Road a distance of approximately 180m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201H230800426 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

The alternative route is available via Harwich Road, Dibridge Road East, Fairhead Road North and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Coach Road, Great Horkesley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Coach Road, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 325m south west of its junction with The Causeway for a distance of approximately 115m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310769842 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Old House Road, The Causeway, Nayland Road and vice versa (with access only into Coach Road).

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Dibridge Road East, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dibridge Road East, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Harwich Road for a distance of approximately 170m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201H2380004 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Harwich Road, Alderton Road, Fairhead Road North and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Fairhead Road North, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Fairhead Road North, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Dibridge Road East to its junction with Cowper Crescent for a distance of approximately 200m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th May 2025 for 6 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201H2380005 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Dibridge Road East, Crown Bays Road, Alderton Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Firs Chase, West Mersea) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Firs Chase, West Mersea in the City of Colchester, from a point of approximately 75m south of its junction with Stonehill Way for a distance of approximately 25m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC3000899323 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new cable connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Rosebank Road, Victory Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Head Street/Culver Street West, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) & (North Hill, Colchester) (Temporary Suspension of Bus Lane) & (Headgate, Colchester) (Temporary Suspension of One Way Restriction) & (Head Street, Colchester) (Temporary Suspension of One Way Restriction) & (Head Street, Colchester) (Temporary Suspension of Cycle Lane) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Head Street, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Culver Street West for a distance of approximately 20m in a northerly direction.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Culver Street West, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Head Street for a distance of approximately 30m in a westerly direction.

  3. To temporarily suspend the bus lane restriction in Headgate, Colchester as detailed in ‘The Essex County Council (Colchester Town Centre) (Bus Lane) Order 2014’ temporarily.

  4. To temporarily suspend the one-way restriction in Headgate, Colchester as detailed in ‘The Essex County Council (Colchester Town Centre) (One-Way) Order 1985’ for the duration of the closures.

  5. To temporarily suspend the one-way restriction in Head Street, Colchester as detailed in the corresponding (various streets) (One-Way) Order, 1985’ for the duration of the closures.

  6. To temporarily suspend the cycle lane at length of Head Street, Colchester, from Head Street (One-Way-Exemption) Replacement Order 2024’ for the duration of the closures.

The closures/suspensions are scheduled to commence at 19:00 4th May 2025 until 06:00 5th May 2025 (continuous), and again 19:00 11th May 2025 until 06:00 12th May 2025 (continuous) two weekends, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310764252/1) / AD01310764252/2 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures/suspensions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

The alternative route is available via Southway South/East, St Botolph’s Circus, Southway West, Middleborough Roundabout, Balkerne Hill Northbound, Middleborough Roundabout, Middleborough.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Shair Lane, Tendring/Great Bentley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Shair Lane, Tendring/Great Bentley in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 385m south of its junction with Colchester Road for a distance of approximately 310m in a southerly then south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP2023J012646 – Premier Tree Care Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree cutting works are undertaken by Premier Tree Care Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Heckfords Road, Colchester Road and vice versa (with access only via Shair Lane and Weeky Road).

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Swan Road/Barkers Lane, Beaumont) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Swan Road, Beaumont in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Barkers Lane for a distance of approximately 175m in a north easterly direction.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Barkers Lane, Beaumont in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Swan Road for a distance of approximately 55m in a south easterly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 5th May 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP2023J012612 – Premier Tree Care Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree cutting works are undertaken by Premier Tree Care Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Harwich Road, Landermere Road, High Street, Colchester Road, Tendring Road, Thorpe Road and vice versa (with access only into Swan Road and Chapel Road).

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Water Lane, Little Horkesley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given** that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Water Lane, Little Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from a point of approximately 95m north of its junction with Fishponds Hill for a distance of approximately 60m in a north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th May 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30045084122 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while supply upgrade works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Horkesley Hill, London Road, Fishponds Hill, Vinessea Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Birch Road, Copford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given** that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Birch Road, Copford in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Church Road to its junction with Foundry Lane a distance of approximately 995m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2437157 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patch repairs are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Copford Green, School Road, London Road, Western Approach, Warren Lane, Maldon Road, Rayleigh Green, Birch Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Grove Road, Tiptree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given** that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Grove Road, Tiptree in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Newbridge Road for a distance of approximately 465m in an easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2390242 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while manhole repairs are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Grove Road, Newbridge Road, Chapel Road, Church Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Highwoods Approach, Colchester) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given** that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Highwoods Approach, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Highwood Road for a distance of approximately 290m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2383765 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Highwoods Approach, Derwent Road, Brinkley Lane Roundabout, Brinkley Lane, Highclere Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(The Folley, Layer-de-la-Haye) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given** that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Folley, Layer-de-la-Haye in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 120m north west of its junction with Malting Green Road for a distance of approximately 180m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (CP3004555270 – Hopkins Homes). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct installation works are undertaken by Hopkins Homes.

An alternative route is available via The Folley, High Road, Matting Green Road, Abberton Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
