Essex, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Utility Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Cycle Track between Gandalfs Ride and Dawberry Place, South Woodham Ferrers) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the Cycle Track, South Woodham Ferrers, in the City of Chelmsford from its junction with Gandalfs Ride to its junction with Dawberry Place for approximately 273 metres.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 21 April 2025 to 21 May 2025 or where appropriate signs are shown and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while repairs to the cycle track is undertaken.

Alternative route: will be via Gandalfs Rise, Inchbonnie Road, Ferrers Road, Hullbridge Road, Chamberlains Ride and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 21 April 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Labworth Road, Canvey Island) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Labworth Road, Canvey Island in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Furtherwick Road to its junction with Atherstone Road a distance of approximately 585m.

  2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

The “Essex County Council (Castle Point Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the Order will remain in force.

The closure/diversion route is scheduled to commence on 6th May 2025 (for 7 days) or where stated on a valid permit (EC20012384389 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required while carriageway patching works including trial hole survey and jetting works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Alternative route: will be via Furtherwick Road, Seaview Road, Atherstone Road, Meynell Avenue, Grafton Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Mayfield Avenue, Hullbridge) (Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of the carriageway on Mayfield Avenue to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the ‘No Waiting’ restriction will be in force.

The “Essex County Council (Rochford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 17th April 2025, exact dates will be specified on other relevant:

  • Advance warning signs, or

  • Notices issued through letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on site.

Description: From its junction with Cedar Drive to its junction with Ferry Road a distance of approximately 300m.

(White Hart Lane, Hawkwell) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of White Hart Lane, Hawkwell in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Clements Hall Lane for a distance of approximately 95m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th May 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC4101001WG2NMMX – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via White Hart Lane, Magnolia Road, Factory Road, Aidington Road, West Street, Bradley Way, Southend Road, Southend Road Roundabout, Southend Road, Rochford Road, Harp House Roundabout, Manners Way, Cuckoo Corner Roundabout, Prince Avenue, Prince Avenue North, Prince Avenue And Nestuda Way Roundabout, Nestuda Way, Nestuda Way And Eastwoodbury Lane Roundabout, Eastwoodbury Lane, Eastwoodbury Lane And Cherry Orchard Roundabout, Cherry Orchard Way, Cherry Orchard Way Roundabout, Hall Road Roundabout, Hall Road, Main Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hart Road, Benfleet) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hart Road, Benfleet in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Main Road to its junction with Hart Grove a distance of approximately 125m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 12th April 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (GD5011266421/40071005 – Advanced Electricity Networks Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while works for new development are undertaken by Advanced Electricity Networks Limited.

An alternative route is available via Hart Road, Kenneth Road, Kiln Road, London Road, Rayleigh Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Closure of Ashdon Way, Kingswood & Temporary Closure of Right Turn Bus Lane on Nether Mayne, Basildon) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Ashdon Way, Kingswood in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Nether Mayne to its junction with Station Road a distance of approximately 300m.

  2. To temporarily close the right hand turn Bus Lane from Nether Mayne, Basildon into Ashdon Way, Kingswood in the Borough of Basildon for the duration of the above closure only.

The closure/restriction is scheduled to commence on 9th April 2025 for 13 days, or where stated on a valid permit (Z4121005803909 & Z4121005809100 – Mua Electricity Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while utility works are undertaken on behalf of Mua Electricity Limited.

Alternative routes are available via:

  1. Nether Mayne, Roundacre

  2. Station Way, Southernhay, Roundacre, Nevendon Road

The Order came into effect on 9th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(White House Chase, Rayleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of White House Chase, Rayleigh in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Daws Heath Road to its junction with Eastwood Road a distance of approximately 170m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 24th March 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC3006321551 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while network maintenance and new service works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Eastwood Road, Daws Heath Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
