Essex, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Radwinter Road, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Radwinter Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from the junction with the Spike for a distance of approximately 210m in north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 5th May 2025 for 5 nights (20:00 – 05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (ZX50231202654 – Highway Assure). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing works are undertaken by Highway Assure.

An alternative route is available via Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Sampford Road, Red Road, High Street, Hill Road, Thaxted Road, Great Sampford Road, Walden Road, Thaxted Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Radwinter Road, Sewards End & Walden Road, Radwinter) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Radwinter Road, Sewards End & Walden Road, Radwinter in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 250m south east of the junction of Rogers End for a distance of approximately 270m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th May 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX014016288903 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while valve repairs are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Great Sampford Road, Thaxted Road, Hill Road, High Street, Moor End Road, Walden Road, Sampford Road and vice versa (with site access only into Walden Road, Radwinter Road).

The Order will come into effect on 17th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Bumptstead Road, Hempstead) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bumptstead Road, Hempstead in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 380m north east of its junction with Hill Road for a distance of approximately 360m in north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th April 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008ON5W3HSYBS – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Hill Road, The Street, Pundicts End, Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Great Sampford Road, Thaxted Road, Hill Road, High Street, Brook End, Mill End, Lower Green, Mill End, Little London Hill, Howe Street, Duck End, The Causeway, The Green, Berden Road, Chapel Hill, Highlands Road, Little London Lane, Northall End, Hadham Road, Hope Street, Puckeridge.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Further Ford End Road, Clavering) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Further Ford End Road, Clavering in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 350m south west of its junction with Langley Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WZ6G82C5 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Further Ford End Road, Langley Road, Mills Road, Plantation Hill, Lower Road, High Street, Middle Street, Planet Road, Pump Hill, Classified Road from B1038 to Mill Lane, Langley Lane, Road East from Langley Lane past Meesden Bury and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(High Lane, Stansted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of High Lane, Stansted in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Brewery Lane for a distance of approximately 15m in south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd April 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX01416220645 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while valve repairs are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via High Lane, Cambridge Road, Chapel Hill, Lower Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Little London Lane, Berden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Little London Lane, Berden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 370m north west of its junction with South Farm Lane for a distance of approximately 100m in south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG2D451P – Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Little London Lane, Manuden Road, Highlands Farm Road, Berden Road, Chapel Hill, The Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Radwinter Road, Saffron Walden) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Radwinter Road, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Elizabeth Way to its junction with Hollyhock Road a distance of approximately 445m.

  2. To temporarily introduce a “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping” restriction on both sides of the carriageway on the above length of road.

The Essex County Council (Uttlesford Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019 will be temporarily amended to include the temporary No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 22nd April 2025 for 6 days or where stated on a valid permit (EP203212663 – Highway Assurance). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while visual installation and sewer connection works are undertaken by Highway Assurance.

An alternative route is available via Radwinter Road, Walden Road, Sampford Road, Red Road, High Street, Hill Road, Thaxted Road, Great Sampford Road, Walden Road, Thaxted Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Stansted Road, Stansted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Stansted Road, Stansted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 265m north east of its junction with Lower Street for a distance of approximately 490m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st April 2025 for 69 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX0374528BRAD – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while main works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Stansted Road, Station Road, High Street, Bentham Road, Mill Road, Thaxted Road, Broxted Road, Park Street, Mill End, Dunmow Road, Water Lane, The Street, High Street, The Street, Pound Green, Broomwood Lane, B1051, Grove Hill, Cambridge Road, The Street, Staner Street, M11 J8 Roundabout, Bishop's Stortford Bypass, Birchanger Roundabout, Dunmow Road, Pines Hill, Silver Street, Chapel Hill, Lower Street and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 3rd April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Uttlesford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) & (Grove Hill, Stansted) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 tonne Weight Restriction) (No.9) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the District of Uttlesford as specified in the schedule to this Order.

  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction entering Grove Hill, Stansted from Lower Street as listed in “The Essex County Council (B1051 Grove Hill, Stansted Mountfitchet) (Weight Restriction) Order 1985” for the duration of the closure of the diversion routes.

  3. A temporary “No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping” restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Uttlesford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time” restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The temporary Order will take place within an 18-month period from 3rd April 2025, exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate drainage frameworks and then re-opened to the public. Signs will be placed ahead of any scheduled closures. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.
