What is happening?

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980

The Somerset Council
Footpath WN 16/5 (part) in the parish of Maperton
Public Path Diversion Order, 2025

The above order, made on 4 April under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert the public footpath running from OS Grid Ref ST 67398 126882 (point B on order plan H02-2025) approximately 92 metres in a north north easterly, then easterly, then north north easterly direction to OS Grid Ref ST 67459 26933 (point A on the order plan) to a line running from OS grid reference ST 67398 126882 (point B on the order plan) in a north easterly and then northerly direction for approximately 34 metres to OS grid ref ST 67427 26894 (point D on the order plan).

It then continues in a north easterly direction for approximately 14 metres to OS Grid Ref ST 67438 26905 (point C on the order plan) then runs for another 35 metres in the same direction to OS Grid Ref ST 67459 26933 (point A on the order plan). 

The width is 2 metres as shown on the order map.

A copy of the order and the order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge by appointment (Tel: 01823 355 644) at Somerset County Council, County Hall, The Crescent, Taunton, TA1 4DY from 9am until 3pm Monday to Friday. 

Copies of the Order and plan may be obtained there free of charge or by contacting rightsofway@somerset.gov.uk.   

Compensation for depreciation or damage for disturbance arising as a result of the coming into force of the order is payable under section 28 (as applied by section 121(2)) of the Highways Act 1980 (as amended by the Transport and Works Act 1992) which is copied with this notice.

Any representation about or objection to the Orders may be sent in writing to Rights of Way, Somerset Council, County Hall, Taunton, TA1 4DY, or by email to rightsofway@somerset.gov.uk, to be received not later than 8 May 2025. 

Please state the grounds on which it is made. 

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Somerset Council may confirm the order as an unopposed order. 

If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the order. 

At this stage they will be made available for public inspection. Prior to submission to the Secretary of State, representations and objections will only be disclosed anonymously (i.e. with personal data redacted).
