What is happening?

(North Street, Steeple Bumpstead)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of North Street, Steeple Bumpstead in the District of Braintree, from its junction with The Chase for a distance of approximately 35m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th May 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ7011001404700 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public
and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.
An alternative route is available via Sampford Road, Walden Road, Moor End Road, High Street, Finchingfield Road, Hawkins Hill, Sampford Road, Brent Hall Road, The Green, The Cause way,
Duck End, Howe Street, Little London Hill, Cornish Hall End, Finchingfield Road, Chapel Street, Haverhill Road and vice versa (with access only into North Street, Water Lane, Hempstead Road, Bumpstead Road, High Street, Hill Road and Hempstead Road).
The Order will come into effect on 25th April 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
