What is happening?

BARNSLEY METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF BARNSLEY
(WEST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT) (HUNSHELF)
MODIFICATION ORDER (NO. 11) 2025 

The above Order, made on 7 April 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by upgrading the full length of Hunshelf public footpath no. 17 and a section of Hunshelf public footpath no. 21 to public bridleway status, commencing on Green Moor Road and proceeding south, east then south east along Holly Hall Lane to join Hunshelf public bridleway no. 18 in Tin Mill Rocher, as shown between the points marked A to G (via B, C, D, E and F) on the Order map (SK 29 NE 2871 9958 / 2966 9905). 

A copy of the Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge during normal office hours, at the Library @ the Lightbox, 1 The Glassworks, Barnsley, the Branch Library High Street Penistone and on the Council’s website. 

Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to Publicrightsofway@barnsley.gov.uk or Public Rights of Way, Barnsley MBC, Smithies Lane Depot, Smithies Lane, Barnsley, S71 1NL (quoting reference Holly Hall Lane DMMO 2025) not later than Friday 23 May 2025 and should state the grounds on which it is made. 

If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or to any part of it, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, instead of submitting the Order to the Secretary of State (or part of it if the Council have by notice to the Secretary of State so elected under paragraph 5 of Schedule 15 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981) may itself confirm the Order or that part of the Order. 

If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, in whole or in part, any representations or objections which have been duly made and not withdrawn will be sent with it. If any person does not wish their personal data to be sent to the Secretary of State, this can be removed on request. The submission will still be seen by the Inspector but it may be given less weight.
