Chester-le-Street, Temporary Road Closures Due To Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Clarence Terrace and Osborne Road, Chester-le-Street) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025
The Council on 4/4/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 550 metre length of Clarence Terrace and Osborne Road, that extends northwards from its junction with West Lane Roundabout, Chester-le-Street to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.
Alternative routes will signed to vehicular traffic from the southern side of the closure, from West Lane, south easterly to Front Street Roundabout, then north on Front Street and west on Station Road to the northern side of the closure and vice versa.
The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works will be split into three phases to maintain access for residents and are to commence on Sunday 13/4/2025. Works will be carried out in 8 working nights over a 12 night period, from 7pm-6am (5 nights from 13/4/25 and 3 nights from 22/4/25). On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
