Wiltshire, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) Wood Street (Part), Clyffe Pypard; from its junction with C120 for a distance of approximately 170m in a north easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out tv lay ducting, install joint boxes, clear blockages and other associated works. Alternative route via Wood Street (unaffected length) – Withy Bed – C120 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 May 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. B) Trow Lane (Part), Brinkworth; from its property known as Seven Lock for a distance of approximately 90m in a northerly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out drainage repairs, brick work repairs, vegetation clearance and other associated works. Alternative route via Trow Lane (unaffected length) – C108 – C76 – A3102 – Trow Lane (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation in phases: Phase 1 will come into operation on 03 May 2025 and will be required between the hours of 22:00 and 08:00 until 04 May 2025. Phase 2 will come into operation on 10 May 2025 and will be required between the hours of 22:00 and 08:00 until 11 May 2025. Phase 3 will come into operation on 12 May 2025 and will be required between the hours of 07:30 and 17:00 until 16 May 2025. Phase 4 will come into operation on 19 May 2025 and will be required between the hours of 07:30 and 17:00 until 23 May 2025. C) Monkton Hill (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with Station Hill for a distance of approximately 65m in a south easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer repair works and other associated works. Alternative route via Monkton Hill (unaffected length) – New Road – Station Hill and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 May 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. D) C1 (Part), Easton Grey; from outside its property known as The River House for a distance of approximately 483m in a southerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway surfacing works and other associated works. Alternative route via C1 (unaffected length) – C68 – C27 – B4040 – C1 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 May 2025 and the closure will be required until 19 May 2025. For further information please contact Wiltshire Council on 0300 456 0100.

E) C151 (Part), Castle Combe; from its junction with Dunns Lane to its junction with B4039 to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via B4039 – Dunns Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 May 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

F) C267 (Part), Wootton Rivers; from its property known as Village Hall for a distance of approximately 70m in a northerly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out repair mains leak and other associated works. Alternative route via C267 (unaffected length) – C199 – C266 – C267 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 14 April 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. For further information please contact Wessex Water on 0345 6004600.

G) Church Street (Part), Calne; from its junction with Mill Street for a distance of approximately 65m in a north westerly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer repair works and other associated works. Alternative route via Church Street (unaffected length) – A4 – Shelburne Road – Brewers Lane – Anchor Road – Mill Street and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 14 April 2025 and the closure will be required until 24 April 2025.

H) UC 916904 (Part), Calne Without and Lacock; from its junction with UC 936901 to outside its property known as Naish Hill Farm to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing and other associated works. Alternative route via UC 916904 (unaffected length) – UC 926801 – C155 – UC 916904 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 16 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. I) Five Thorn Lane (Part), Seagry; from its junction with C82 for a distance of approximately 70m in a north easterly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out bobcat patching works and other associated works. Alternative route via Five Thorn Lane (unaffected length) – C66 – C82 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 14 April 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 for 2 days. J) C66 (Part), Seagry; from its junction with the Right of Way known as Bridleway 7, Seagry for a distance of approximately 380m in a north easterly direction.

K) C82 (Part), Seagry; from its junction with C66 for a distance of approximately 350m in a north westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out drainage, CCTV, repair works and other associated works. Alternative route J via C66 (unaffected length) – B4069 – B4122 – A429 – C166 – C66 (unaffected length) and vice versa. Alternative route K via C82 (unaffected length) – C166 – C66 and vice versa. This Order which follows an emergency notice will come into operation on 14 April 2025 and will be required until 18 April 2025. Orders A) to K) will have a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Notice is hereby given that on 2 April 2025 Wiltshire Council made the above mentioned Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Order 1 under the Traffic Management Act 2004 the effect of which is as follows:

Order 1 – To amend the following restrictions in the Chippenham and Chippenham Without Consolidation Order 2019 by introducing new Map Schedule No. DA36 dated 14 April 2025 the effect of which will be to introduce No Waiting at any time on Saltersford Lane, Chippenham – east side – from a point 260 metres south of its junction with B4528 for a distance of 54 metres in a south westerly direction; Saltersford Lane, Chippenham – west side – from a point 260 metres south of its junction with B4528 for a distance of 41 metres in a south westerly direction.

Order 2 – To introduce a Prohibition of Motor Vehicles (except for access) on Saltersford Lane, Chippenham

i) from a point 291 metres south of its junction with B4528 for a distance of 13 metres in a south westerly direction

ii) from a point 319 metres south of its junction with B4528 for a distance of 88 metres in a south westerly direction

iii) from a point 407 metres south of its junction with B4528 for a distance of 36 metres in a south westerly direction.

Order 3 – To introduce a 30mph speed limit on Saltersford Lane, Chippenham – from its junction with B4528 in a south westerly direction to its junction with A350 West Cepen Way.

Any person aggrieved by the Orders and desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in the Orders on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant Section of the above Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Section or of Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act or any regulation made under the said Schedule, has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks of the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

The Orders will come into operation on 14 April 2025.
