THE A1(M) MOTORWAY, THE M1 MOTORWAY

AND THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (GRANGE MOOR

TO SELBY FORK)

(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M1 Motorway, the A1(M) Motorway and the A64 Trunk Road, in the Districts of Leeds and Wakefield, to enable structural assessments, surveys and works, barrier removal and installation, lighting removal and installation, cable and ducts removal and installation, earthworks, drainage, and outlet works, resurfacing and white lining works to be  carried out in safety.

The works are expected to start at 8pm on Monday 5 May 2025 for 14 months, or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to impose a

temporary 50mph speed restriction on the:

(i)    A1(M) southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 45 (Grange Moor Roundabout) to the entry slip road at Junction 42 (Selby Fork Interchange),  a distance of 19340 metres;

(ii)    A1(M) northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 42 to the entry slip road at Junction 45, a distance of 19240 metres;

(iii)   M1 southbound carriageway from its diverge with the A1(M) at Junction 48 (Hook

Moor Interchange) to the entry slip road at

Junction 47 (Parlington Interchange);

(iv)   M1 northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 46 (Austhorpe Interchange) to its merge with the A1(M) at Junction 43 (Hook Moor Interchange),  a distance of 8500 metres;

(v)   A64 westbound carriageway from the entry slip road at the A659 Headley Bar to its junction with Bramham Crossroads roundabout, a distance of 2400 metres;

(vi)   A1(M) southbound and northbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 44 

(Bramham Crossroads);

(vii)  A1(M) northbound entry slip road at Junction 42;

(viii) link road connecting the A64 westbound carriageway with the A1(M) southbound carriageway at Junction 44;

(ix)   link road connecting the A1(M) northbound carriageway with the A64 eastbound carriageway at Junction 44;

(x)   M1 northbound entry slip road at Junction 46; and

(xi)   M1 northbound exit and entry slip roads at Junction 47.

It will be necessary to close between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, the lengths of carriageway, slip roads and link roads as

described in (i), (ii), (iii), (iv), (vi), (vii), (viii). (ix),

(x) and (xi). During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.

It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to ban vehicles with an overall width exceeding 6’6” in specified lanes and use the hard shoulder for traffic adjacent to the lengths of carriageway as described in (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv).

Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 4 May 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
