Dorset, Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Utility Works
What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Dorchester
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to complete the provision of high and low voltage cables and associated works to minimise the impact on highway users. It will come into operation on 6 April 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 26 April 2025. The effect of the Order is to close roads as listed to enable maintenance works.
[1] To impose temporary road closure on West Stafford roundabout: 11 - 13 April 2025 inclusive.
[2] To impose temporary road closure on Trumpet Major roundabout: 22 - 24 April 2025 between 2000hrs and 0600hrs.
[3] To impose temporary road closure on Max Gate roundabout: 24 - 26 April 2025 between 2000hrs and 0600hrs.
[4] To impose temporary clearway on West Stafford roundabout between 11 - 13 April 2025.
[5] To impose temporary clearway on Trumpet Major roundabout: 22 - 24 April 2025 between 2000hrs and 0600hrs.
[6] To impose temporary clearway on Max Gate roundabout: 24 - 26 April 2025 between 2000hrs and 0600hrs.
Please note that any vehicle waiting in contravention of temporary parking restrictions may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986. A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Temporary Closure of Chilfrome Lane, Higher Frome Vauchurch
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 as amended. The Order is needed to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 14 April 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 17 April 2025. The effect of the Order is to close Chilfrome Lane, Higher Frome Vauchurch from the junction with Frome Lane to the property known as Higher Frome Vauchurch for a distance of approximately 110 metres.
There will be no alternative route for diverted traffic.

Temporary Closure of Duck Street, Cerne Abbas
DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to install a new water supply. It will come into operation on 15 April 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 17 April 2025.
The effect of the Order is to temporarily close DUCK STREET, CERNE ABBAS between its junction with Abbey Street and the entrance to the garage for a distance of approximately 120 metres.
There will be no alternative route for diverted traffic. Access will be maintained for emergency services and for residents where practicable.

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Winterborne Kingston
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 13th May 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 30th May 2025.
This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works.
[1] To impose temporary road closure on Various Roads, Winterborne Kingston as listed: (i) Sackville Street, Winterborne Kingston from its junction with North Street to its junction with West Street; (ii) North Street from its junction with Broad Close to its junction with West Street.
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
Please note the closures will be in operation between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 daily (not including weekends). Advance warning signs will be placed on the highway and the works will be managed under a road closure.
[2] To impose clearway and parking suspension as indicated by signs on site to prevent waiting or parking on the highway in Various Roads, Winterborne Kingston as listed; (i) Sackville Street from its junction with North Street to its junction with Broad Close to its junction with Duck Street; (ii) Winterborne Kingston from junction with Windy Ridge to junction with West Street; (iii) North Street from junction with Broad Close to junction with West Street.

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Dorchester – Night Works
DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 28 April 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 29 April 2025. Works will take place between the hours of 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs.
The effect of the Order is to close roads as listed to enable maintenance works:
To impose temporary road closure on Weymouth Avenue between Cheriton Car Home and its junction with Maumbury Road.
To impose temporary road closure on Maumbury Road between no. 18 and its junction with Great Western Road
A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
