TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024

MERTON ROAD, BEDFORD 24 - 143

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Merton Road, Bedford outside 1.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate replace pole and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 ours from 22nd April 2025 to 23rd April 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Oaklands Road, Goldington Avenue.

The reverse route applies.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024

LOWER HONEYDON LANE, HONEYDON 24 - 125

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Lower Honeydon Lane, Honeydon.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate renovation and repair to the ditch alongside the carriageway and installation of safety bollards and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours from 22nd April 2025 to 20th May 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Lower Honeydon Lane, Cadbury Lane, Bushmead Road.

The reverse route applies.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024

HIGH STREET, RISELEY 24 - 146

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of High Street, Riseley outside 158.

This temporary road closure is required to replace noisy 600x600 manhole cover and frame and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 15:00 hours 27th April 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Keysoe Road, Riseley Road, Pertenhall Road, Bedford Road, Kimbolton Road, Swineshead Road.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Mount Drive, Bedford junction with Queens Drive. This temporary road closure is required to facilitate repairs to a fire hydrant and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 7th May 2025 to 9th May 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Queens Drive, Church Lane, Putnoe Street, Mount Drive.

The reverse route applies.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025

VE DAY 80TH ANNIVERSARY 2025 08

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding any road in Bedford Borough affected by VE day Street Parties.

These temporary road closure(s) are required to facilitate the holding of a street party in celebration of VE day 80th Anniversary and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

The order will be operative from 08:00 hours Saturday 3rd May to 10th May 2025 inclusive for a period of one day each.

This temporary road closure is required to facilitate bridge maintenance and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL

(PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING AND PARKING PLACES) ORDER 2009 (AMENDMENT NO.72) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 3rd April 2025 Bedford Borough Council made the above Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which is detailed below:Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce a ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction (double yellow lines) on the following lengths of roads:A London Road, Bedford

(i)   On its south-western side, from a point approx. 3.5 metres north-west of the projected boundary between nos. 263 and 265 London Road extending for a distance of approx. 38 metres in a north-westerly direction.

B   Vehicular access to existing Public House and proposed development

(i)   On its northern side, from its junction with London Road extending for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a south-westerly direction (the extent of adopted highway).

(ii)  On its southern side, from its junction with London Road extending for a distance of approx. 11 metres in a south-westerly direction (the extent of adopted highway).

Date of Operation This Order will come into force on 7th April 2025 or as soon as practicable after this date.

High Court Challenge: Any person who desires to question the validity of this Order or any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date of this Notice, make application for that purpose to the High Court.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL

(ST PAUL’S SQUARE) (CYCLE TRACKS) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the above Order under section 3 of the Cycle Tracks Act 1984 was made on 3rd April 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to designate the footways, as detailed below, as cycle tracks and a shared footway/cycle track:

Effect of the Order:

1. To designate the following new sections of footways in Bedford as cycle tracks:

A St Paul’s Square, Bedford

(i)   Commencing on the southern side of its southern leg, extending from a point approx. 37 metres east of the eastern flank wall of property No. 6, continuing in a westerly, then northerly (clockwise) direction, and then in a westerly direction to a point in Horne Lane approx. 16.5 metres west of the western side of the western leg of St Paul’s Square.

(ii)  Extending from the aforementioned western leg of the proposed cycle track at a point approx. 6 metres south of the southern side of Horne Lane in an easterly and then northerly direction to the southern side of the northern leg of St Paul’s Square.

2.  To convert the following length of footway in Bedford to shared use cycle track:-

A    St Paul’s Square

(i)   On the northern side of the northern leg, extending from the projected western flank wall of property No. 8 for a distance of approx. 28 metres in a westerly direction.

Date of Operation This Order will come into force on 7th April 2025 or as soon as practicable after this date.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN KING STREET, KEMPSTON.

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council has received a request for some new parking restrictions in King Street, Kempston. The proposal below is aimed at helping to maintain visibility and safety in this street.

Effect of the Order:

1.  To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following length of road:

A   King Street, Kempston

(i)   On its western kerb, starting from the projected boundary between 2a and 2b King Street, Kempston for a distance of approx. 44.2 metres in a southerly direction.

Relevant proposal documents may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. They will also be available for viewing on the council’s website at www.bedford.gov.uk/proposedtro. The documents will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal.
