M60 Motorway, Junction 15 - Temporary Restriction of Traffic For General Maintenance Works
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE M60 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 15 CLOCKWISE & ANTICLOCKWISE EXIT SLIP LINKS TO THE M61 NORTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS) AND M61 (NORTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M60 and M61 Motorways, in the Borough of Bolton, in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable the removal and installation of barriers, and other general maintenance works to be carried out in safety.
The Order will impose on the following sections of the M60 and M61 Motorways:
i. a 50 mph speed limit on the M60 J15 clockwise exit slip link to the M61 northbound;
ii. a 50 mph speed limit on the M60 J15 anticlockwise exit slip link to the M61 northbound;
iii. a 50 mph speed limit on the M61 northbound carriageway, from a point 465 metres east of the Ryders Farm Bridge, to a point 370 west of the Ryders Farm Bridge
Restrictions i.-iii. are expected to be in place during a continuous period, subject to traffic signs, starting at 22:00 on Sunday 4 May 2025 and ending at 06:00 on Tuesday 10 June 2025.
However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods or until completed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 3 May 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
