New Howden Bridge, Livingston - Temporary Road Restriction and Traffic Regulation to Enable a Special Bridge Inspection to Be Carried Out
What is happening?
THE WEST LOTHIAN COUNCIL (NEW HOWDEN BRIDGE, LIVINGSTON) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025 - TTO/25/134
The Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that the undernoted footpath will be closed from 0001hrs on 21 April to 2359hrs on 1 May 2025 to enable a special bridge inspection to be carried out. Pedestrians will be diverted as shown below. Further information is available from the Roads Manager on 01506 280000.

FOOTPATH CLOSURE
Location: New Howden Bridge, Howden South Road, Livingston over the River Almond - footpath closure on bridge next to southbound lane
Diversion:
(1) Diversion Route for footpath closure next to southbound lane: Via north footpath, cross at Almond Link Road at pedestrian crossing, travel west on the footpath from 112 to 15 Manitoba Ave, follow footpath through underpass at Howden South Road and pass over Civic Centre footbridge, continue west on footpath on Howden South Road and cross to east pedestrian crossing then head eastwards on Howden South Road to south side, footpath to Burnvale, continue on southside of footbridge and vice versa.
(2) Diversion route for north river side footpath closure: via north side footpath, cross on Almond Link Road at pedestrian crossing, travel west on the footpath from 112 to 15 Manitoba Ave, follow the footpath and through underpass at Howden South Road and vice versa.
(3) Diversion Route for south river side closure is via Civic Centre footbridge over River Almond, continue west of the footpath on Howden South Road and cross to east pedestrian crossing head eastwards on Howden South Road to west side, footpath to Burnvale, continue on southside of footbridge and vice versa.
