What is happening?
SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL
(Ayford Lane, Marshfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Ayford lane which extends from Ashwicke Road southwards for 700m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with overhead telecom installation works. The order will be operative from 8 May 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. Alternative route: St Cathrine Lane, Leigh Lane, A46 Gloucester Road, A420 Chippenham Road, Ashwicke Road and vice versa.
(Filton Road, Hambrook) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Filton Road which extends from a point 370m north west of Common Mead Lane north westwards for 320m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with new storm water connection works. The order will be operative from 6 May 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 month duration. Alternative route: Old Gloucester Road, Frenchay Park Road, Stoke Lane, Cold Harbour Lane and vice versa.
(Eastland Avenue and Park View Avenue, Thornbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with gas main upgrade works. The order will be operative from 6 May 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 10 weeks duration. Schedule: Eastland Avenue – that length which extends from Eastland Road to North East Road; Park View Avenue – its entire length. Alternative route: Eastland Road, Severn View Road and vice versa.
(Court Road, Oldland Common) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Court Road which extends from Meadow Court Drive to California Road. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon gas main upgrade works on or adjacent to the highway. The order will be operative from 6 May 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 weeks duration. Alternative route: California Road, Shellards Road, Parkwall Road, Cadbury Heath Road, Tower Road South, Cowhorn Hill, West Street and vice versa.
(Public Footpath LFN/11/20 and Public Footpath LSG/21/10, Stoke Gifford) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers the lengths of footpath specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon telecom installation works. The order became operative from 16 April 2025 for a maximum period of six months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. Schedule: Footpath LFN/11/20 – from LFN/11/10 to LSG/21/10; Footpath LSG/21/10 – from LFN/11/20 to LSG/21/20. Alternative route: Station Road.
(Old Gloucester Road, Winterbourne) (No.3) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Old Gloucester Road which extends from Trench Lane southwards for 1100m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon pole replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 15 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration. Alternative route: Perrinpit Road, Bristol Road, High Street, Winterbourne Hill, Beacon Lane, Winterbourne Road and vice versa.
(Sundays Hill, Almondsbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Sundays Hill which extends from Over Lane north eastwards for 563m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with overhead cabling works. The order became operative from 15 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am to 3:30pm. Alternative route: Church Road, Tockington Lane, Fernhill, A38 Gloucester Road, Over Lane.
(Cyclepath Iron Acton Way, Yate) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Cyclepath Iron Acton Way which extends from Lodge Road south westwards for 300m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon construction works and road widening. The order became operative from 14 April 2025 for a maximum period of six months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 months duration. Alternative route: Pedestrians: footway on opposite side of Iron Acton Way. Cyclists: Armstrong Way and North Road to traffic light junction with Iron Acton Way. Equestrians: Dyers Lane and Mission Road.
(Longdon Close, Kingswood) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Longdon Close which extends from Deanery Road northwards for 50m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon gas main replacement works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 14 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration. Alternative route: No alternative route for vehicles. Pedestrians diverted to opposite footway.
(Gravel Hill Road and Yate Rocks, Yate) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon gas connection works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 14 April 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration. Schedule: Gravel Hill Road – that length which extends from Yate Rocks northwards for 25m and southwards for 25m; Yate Rocks – that length which extends from Gravel Hill Road north westwards for 25m.
Alternative route: Brinsham Lane, Wickwar Road, Southfield Way, Peg Hill and vice versa.
(Footpath LYA 45/20, Yate) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2020
Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 26 March 2020, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 14 April 2026 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers that length of footpath LYA 45/20 which extends from Tanhouse Lane south eastwards for 375m.
This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon housing development works and would have expired on 14 April 2025. Alternative Route: provided footpath, Tanhouse Lane and vice versa
(Footpaths LYA 53/10, LYA 55/10 and LYA 55/20 at Yate) (Temporary Prohibition of use by Foot Passengers) Order 2019
Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 4 April 2019, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 14 April 2028 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers the lengths of footpath specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon development works on or adjacent to the highway and would have expired on 14 April 2025. Schedule: LYA 53/10 – from footpath LYA/55/10/LYA 55/20 northwards for 600m. LYA 55/10 – from footpath LYA/55/20/LYA 53/10 north north westwards for 600m. LYA 55/20 – from Randolph Avenue to footpath LYA/55/10/LYA 53/10. Alternative route: Specially provided route to the west of the development works
