What is happening?

DURHAM COUNTY COUNCIL

LOCAL GOVERNMENT (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT 1976

PROPOSED FEES FOR HACKNEY CARRIAGE AND PRIVATE HIRE LICENCES 2025 / 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Section 70 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976, Durham County Council propose to charge the fees set out in the schedule below for the grant of licences for Hackney Carriages, Private Hire Vehicles and Private Hire Vehicle Operators.

A copy of this notice shall for the period of twenty-eight days from the date of publication of the Notice be deposited at Durham County Council, County Hall, Durham DH1 5UL and be open for inspection between the hours of 9am – 4pm on weekdays. Alternatively, email – licensing@durham.gov.uk.

Any objections to the fees set out in the schedule below may be made in writing to the Head of Community Protection at the address or email detailed below, within twenty-eight days from the date of the publication of this Notice.

SCHEDULE

For the Grant/Renewal of an annual vehicle licence in respect of a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle £370.46

For the Grant/Renewal of an annual vehicle licence in respect of a Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle which is over ten years old £433.19

For the Grant/Renewal of an annual vehicle licence in respect of a Special Vehicle £345.46

For the Grant/Renewal of a one-year Private Hire Vehicle Operator Licence £146.00

For the Grant/Renewal of a two-year Private Hire Vehicle Operator Licence £257.00

For the Grant/Renewal of a three-year Private Hire Vehicle Operator Licence £369.00

For the Grant/Renewal of a four-year Private Hire Vehicle Operator Licence £483.00

For the Grant/Renewal of a five-year Private Hire Vehicle Operator Licence £592.00
