What is happening?

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND SECTIONS 90A AND 90C HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 TRAFFIC CALMING NOTICE. PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION OF SPEED CUSHIONS AT FORDFIELD ROAD, SUNDERLAND


Notice is hereby given that the Council of the City of Sunderland in exercise of its powers under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 and after consultation in accordance with Section 90C of the Highways Act 1980 proposes to construct speed cushions and road humps complying with the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 as traffic calming measures to reduce vehicle speeds along Fordfield Road, Sunderland. The current speed limit on the above length of road is 20mph. The road humps are in the form of four pairs of speed cushions which are raised sections of the carriageway designed to control vehicle speeds. The locations, nature and dimensions of the proposed Speed Cushions are as follows:- Dimensions The speed cushions will have the following dimensions:-Overall Width: 1800mm; Length: 3000mm; ; on/off Gradient: 1:15; Plateau Length: 750mm; Plateau Width: 650 mm; Max Height: 75mm. Locations At these locations a pair of speed cushions will be centred longitudinally at the given reference point: Fordfield Road, from the centre at a point 3.5m east of the extended party property boundary of 167 & 169 Fordfield Road; Fordfield Road, from the centre at a point 0.5m east of the extended party property boundary of 181 & 183 Fordfield Road; Fordfield Road, from the centre at the extended party property boundary of 160 & 162 Fordfield Road; Fordfield Road, from the centre at the extended party property boundary of 219 & 221 Fordfield Road. The plans and a statement of reasons for the above proposed road humps may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until the end of the consultation period.
