Farington Rd - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(CROSTON ROAD AND A582 FARINGTON ROAD, FARINGTON, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over the following lengths of highway at the times stated in article 3;
i. Croston Road, Farington (southbound carriageway only) from its junction with A582 Farington Road to its junction with Lower Field.
ii. A582 Farington Road, Farington from its junction with A582 Flensburg Way for a distance of 90 metres in a north easterly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from the times and dates specified below or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible.
i. Croston Road, Farington (southbound carriageway only) from 0800 hours on Tuesday 22nd April 2025 until Friday 2nd May 2025.
ii. A582 Farington Road, Farington overnight only from the hours of 1900 hours until 0500 hours from Monday 12th May to Thursday 15th May 2025.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-

B5254 Watkin Lane - A582 Farington Road
A582 Farington Road
A582 Flensburg Way – A582 Penwortham Way – A582 Golden Way – A582 Guild Way – A59 Ring Way – A6 Ring Way – A6 Stanley Street – A6 London Road – A6 Victoria Road – A6 London Way – A582 Lostock Lane – A582 Farington Road and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow telecoms works to be carried out.
