What is happening?
Highways
Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
CANTERBURY AREA
Adisham Road, Bekesbourne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Adisham Road, Bekesbourne, from 15th April 2025, with estimated completion by 16th April 2025, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between number 7 and Oberland, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Adisham Road, Chalkpit Hill, School Lane, Station Road, Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road, B2046 High Street, Adisham Road, Station Road, Pond Hill, Adisham Downs Road, Adisham Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne, from 30th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Bekesbourne Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, A257 The Hill, A257 Canterbury Road, A257 Littlebourne Road, Bekesbourne Lane, Bekesbourne Hill and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Broxhall Road, Upper Hardres. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broxhall Road, Upper Hardres, from 15th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Pilot’s Farm Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pilot’s Farm Road, Tapleys Hill, Pett Bottom Road, Broxhall Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Covet Lane, Kingston, CT4 6JX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow rail bridge works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Covet Lane, Kingston, from 16th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Waterworks Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Covet Lane, Black Robin Lane, Bonny Bush Hill, The Street, Marley Lane, Turks Hill, Covet Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Curtis Wood Road, Herne, CT6 7JU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Curtis Wood Road, Herne, from 14th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with A291 Canterbury Road and Ridgeway Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Curtis Wood Road, A291 Canterbury Road, Herne Street, Albion Lane, Ridgeway Road, Curtis Wood Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Joy Lane, Whitstable, CT5 4EL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Joy Lane, Whitstable, from 14th April 2025, with estimated completion by 17th April 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 110, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling westbound is via Faversham Road, Joy Lane, B2205 Borstal Hill, A290 Clapham Hill, A299 Westbound On Slip, A299 Thanet Way, Graveney Off Slip, Staple Street, Staple Street Road, Head Hill Road, Seasalter Road and Faversham Road.
The alternative route for any through traffic travelling eastbound is via Faversham Road, Seasalter Road, Head Hill Road, Whitstable Road, A299 Thanet Way On Slip, A299 Thanet Way, A2990 Thanet Way Slip Way, A2990 (Old) Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane and Faversham Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kenfield Road, Petham & Garlinge Green Road, Garlinge Green. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kenfield Road, Petham & Garlinge Green Road, Garlinge Green, from 30th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
Kenfield Road will be closed at the junction with Garlinge Green Road, heading Northbound to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Garlinge Green Road, Chartham Downs Road, Kenfield Road and vice versa.
Garlinge Green Road will be closed at the junction with Kenfield Road, heading Eastbound to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via Garlinge Green Road, Vicarage Hill, Town Road, B2068 Stone Street, Redhouse Lane, Chartham Downs Road, Kenfield Road and vice versa.
Pett Bottom Road, Bridge, CT4 5AN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pett Bottom Road, Bridge, from 16th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Middle Pett Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pett Bottom Road, Tapleys Hill, Catt’s Wood Road, Hardres Court Road, B2068 Faussett Hill, Bridge Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Pheasant Hall Road, Bishopsbourne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Pheasant Hall Road, Bishopsbourne, from 17th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Woodgate, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Woodgate, Pett Bottom Road, Westwood Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Station Road, Chartham, CT4 7HU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow level crossing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Station Road, Chartham, from 23:30 hours on 28th April 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 29th April 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 20m either side of the Chartham station level crossing, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Green, Parish Road, Bolts Hill, Shalmsford Street, A28 Ashford Road, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Westbere Lane, Westbere, CT2 0HH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Westbere Lane, Westbere, from 15th April 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with A28 Staines Hill and Church Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Westbere Lane, Bushy Hill Road, A28 Island Road, Staines Hill, Westbere Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Western Avenue, Herne Bay, CT6 8TW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow remedial works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Western Avenue, Herne Bay, from 30th April 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd May 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 82, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Western Avenue, B2205 Sea Street, Avenue Road, Station Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
White Horse Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2JH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER APRIL 2025
To allow gully repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on White Horse Lane, Canterbury, from 16th April 2025, with estimated completion by 17th April 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
