What is happening?

BRIGHTON AND HOVE CITY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER - NEW ENGLAND STREET - CYCLE LANE CLOSURE, BRIGHTON

1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council have on the 2 April 2025 made an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which has the following effect:-The temporary closure of the southbound contraflow cycle lane on New England Street from a point approximately 80 metres north of the junction with Cheapside, northwards for approximately 15 metres.

2. The Order is necessary to allow SGN carry out a new gas connection.

3. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for cycle traffic.

4. This Order comes into force on 7 April 2025 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed, which is anticipated to be 15 April 2025.
