What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL

Peaslake Road (D2 22) Ewhurst Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2025

On 02 April 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of; (a) Peaslake Road (D222) Ewhurst; (b) Suspend “The Surrey County Council Peaslake Road (D222) Ewhurst Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2024” in its entirety.

Alternative Route: Ewhurst Road, Walking Bottom, Lawbrook Lane, and Pitch Hill, or this route in reverse. This Order is required to facilitate remedial works for, or on behalf of Broadband for Surrey Hills Ltd. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 1 day, between the hours of 9am and 4pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 15 April 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties will be maintained at all times, via road plates, if required, as will access for pedestrians and cyclists.

Various in Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.2) 2025

On 2 April 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice; (b) revoke part 7 of the Schedule of “Surrey County Council Various Roads in the Borough of Guildford Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.6) 2023”.

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate carriageway surfacing/patching works and/or fine milling works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 7 April 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period.

Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.

Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route.

1. that length of A320 Woking Road, Guildford which extends from its roundabout junction with A3 Guildford – Godalming By-Pass to its junction with Jacobs Well Road. Alternative Route – A320 Woking Road, A320 Guildford Road, B380 Smarts Heath Road, B380 Berry Lane, A322 Bagshot Road, A322 Rickford, A322 Worplesdon Road, A322 Aldershot Road, Dennis roundabout, A25 Midleton Road, A25 Woodbridge Road and A25 Ladymead;

2. the entire length of D851 Fairlands Road, Fairlands. Alternative Route – D851 Sandpit Heath, D851 Louis Fields, D851 Brooke Forest and D851 Fairlands Avenue;

3.the entire length of the eastern side of D865 Station Parade, East Horsley (that length of which fronts the properties Nos.16 to 22 Station Parade). Alternative Route – B2039 Ockham Road South;

4. the entire length of D4001 Hillcrest Road, Guildford. Alternative Route – D4001 Woodside Road and D4001 Roundhill Way;

5. the entire length of D4026 Cypress Road, Guildford. Alternative Route – D4026 Fir Tree Road, D4026 Cedar Road and D4026 Stoughton Road;

6. the entire length of D4017 West Meads, Guildford. Alternative Route – D4017 Queen Eleanors Road, D4017 Wilderness Road and D4017 Orchard Road;

7. the entire length of C40/C41 The Street, West Horsley. Alternative Route – C41 East Lane, B2039 Ockham Road North (15’0” height restriction bridge), B2039 Ockham Road South, A246 Guildford Road and A246 Epsom Road;

8. that length of C14 Clay Lane, Jacobs Well which extends from its junction with Jacobs Well Road eastwards to a point 20m west of its junction with the access road leading Riverview Business Park. Alternative Route – C14 Clay Lane, A320 Woking Road, A25 Parkway, A3100 London Road, A3100 Clay Lane and C14 Clay Lane.

Various in Spelthorne Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order (No.1) 2025

On 2 April 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate fine milling works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 4 April 2025.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period.

1. the entire lengths of D3251 Village Way and D3251 Knapp Road, Ashford. Alternative Route – D3251 Knapp Road, B378 Church Road and D3251 Brownrigg Road;

2. the entire length of D2688 Broadlands Avenue, Shepperton. Alternative Route – B3366 Green Lane, B376 High Street and D6288 Glebelands Gardens.

Various Roads in Godalming (Godalming Run Event) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Order, pursuant to Sections 16A and 16B of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicles from entering or proceeding along those lengths of roads in Godalming specified in the Schedule to this Notice, or any parts thereof. Such restriction shall also apply in relation to the riding, leading or driving of horses or any other animals. The Order will come into effect on 18 May 2025, for a period of one day, but the prohibitions will only be operative when the relevant signs are displayed.

The Order is required to facilitate the holding of an event on the highway, namely the Godalming Run and will not apply to such vehicles being used in connection with the event, or to anything done on the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a traffic marshal, or any sign placed by Surrey Police. Emergency access will be maintained for the police, fire brigade and ambulance services and for organisations responsible for dealing with the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, water or electronic communications, to premises in the area and for the removal of any obstruction to traffic.

The Council are satisfied that, in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road to which this Order relates, or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising, vehicular access to premises situated in such lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Notice, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted, save for emergency access as indicated above, though it is anticipated that the temporary closures will only take effect during between 09:50am and 1pm.

It will be possible for vehicles emerging from properties in Borough Road north of the Thames Water Depot to turn left and exit the road at its junction with Charterhouse Road. Access for pedestrians will be unaffected. The Council are also satisfied, in accordance with subsection (3) of Section 16A of the Act, that the event to which the Order relates cannot be held otherwise than on a road. The alternative route for traffic will be via Chalk Road, Bridge Road, Wharf Street, Flambard Way, Station Road and Mill Way, or this route in reverse.

Schedule:

1. That length of D5403 Borough Road, from its junction with C23 Charterhouse Road, to its junction with D5403 Church Street.

2. That length of D5403 Church Street, from its junction with D5421 Mint Street, to its junction with D5421 Station Road.

3. That length of D5421 Station Road, from its junction with D5403 Church Street, to its junction with the south-western kerb line of D5421 Westbrook Road.

4. The entire length of D5421 Westbrook Road.

Egmont Road (D3813) Walton on Thames Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Egmont Road (D3813) Walton on Thames as extends from its junction with (D3814) Cottimore Lane south-westwards for a distance of approximately 20 metres.

This Order, which will commence on 27 April 2024 for a period of 12 months is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the said roads, to be carried out by or on behalf of SGN, including but not limited to: mains gas replacement works and/or any other associated works. Works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Due to the nature of the works there will be no vehicular access through the works areas and all vehicular traffic including residents and the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion routes.

The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

North Street (D3185) Egham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of North Street (D3185) Egham between points 14 meters and 25 metres north of its junction with Rusham Road (D3185).

Alternative Route – Clarence Street, Queens Road and Rusham Road, or this route in reverse.

The Order is required to allow Affinity Water to carry out water connection works and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 4 days, between 8:00am and 6:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 28 April 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Hogs Back (A31) and Puttenham Hill (B3000) Puttenham Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the slip road leading from the westbound carriageway of the Hogs Back (A31) Puttenham at Puttenham Hill (B3000) between its diverge with the main A31 carriageway and the entrance to Puttenham Hill House.

Alternative route – A31 westbound to the A331 (Black Water Valley) Interchange and return.

The Order is required to allow EE to facilitate utility works and all associated works which is anticipated to be completed within 5 days, between 10:00am and 4:00pm, during the 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 28 April 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for cyclists and equestrians will be maintained at all times.

D3070 Farleigh Road, New Haw Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

Surrey County Council propose to make the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of D3070 Farleigh Road, New Haw.

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate carriageway surfacing and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 21 April 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route. Alternative Route – B385 Woodham Lane, C130 Scotland Bridge Road and D3071 Selsdon Road.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)

Public Footpaths 197, 225, 223 (Shere). Public Bridleways 205 (Shere) and 205 (Cranleigh). Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 01 April Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned temporary order, the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic on foot or by any other means from entering or proceeding along Public Footpath 197 (Shere) in A Westerly direction from grid reference 506981 143328 to grid reference 506647 143248. Also from that point heading south for 55 metres on Public Bridleway 205 (Shere) and then North West on Public footpath 223 (Shere) to Grid reference 506382 143529 and West on Public Footpath 225 (Shere) to Grid reference 506402 143129.
Also.

From Public Bridleway 205 Shere at grid reference 506523 143837 heading South to Public Bridleway 205 (Cranleigh) at Grid reference 506625 142994.

The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety due to heavy plant machinery on the highway.

The closure will be in operation for a period of sixteen days from 03 April 2025 or until completion of the works, if earlier. That period can be extended by the Secretary of State for Transport if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

The alternative route for pedestrians from 506981 143328 will be to head South on the track sign posted on site for 300 metres, then head West on the same track for 334 metres and cross the intersection of Public Bridleway (205 Cranleigh) then continue on the same track North West for 275 metres to where it intersects Public Footpath 225 (Shere) at grid reference 506402 143129. Then carry on the same track North West for 104 metres to meet Public Bridleway 224 (Albury). Then continue North on Public Bridleway 224 (Albury) for 322 metres to where the Bridleway intersects Public Footpath 223 (Shere) at grid reference 506382 143529.

The alternative route for horses and cyclists from grid reference 506523 143837 will be to head South West on Public Bridleway 205a (Albury) for 216 metres, then continue south on Public Bridleway 205a (Albury) for 138 metres to Public Bridleway 224 (Albury). Then continue south for 488 metres to Public Bridleway 224 (Cranleigh), then head South East for 409 metres. Then head North on Public Bridleway 205 (Cranleigh) for 223m metres to grid reference 506625 142994.

The alternative route for traffic from grid reference 506639 142776 will be the reverse of the route described above.

“The Public Footpaths 197, 225, 223 (Shere) and Public Bridleways 205 (Shere) and 205 (Cranleigh) Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic Order 2025” will be made by the County Council under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
