Hanley Road, Stoke - Temporary Prohibition of Driving For Renewal Of Water Mains

What is happening?

City of Stoke on Trent (Hanley Road, Stoke) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order (No.535) 2025

Notice is hereby given that Stoke on Trent City Council intend to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act, 1991, the effect of which will be to prohibit the driving of any vehicle along Hanley Road in one direction from Hanley to Smallthorne between the following sections on the dates specified.

Esperanto Way to Holden Bridge on 22/04/2025 - 06/06/2025

Holden Bridge to Milton Road/Sneyd Street on 02/06/2025 - 15/08/2025

Milton Road to Barthomley Road/Chell Street on 11/08/2025 - 19/09/2025 

Barthomley Road to Sneyd Street on 06/03/2026 - 17/04/2026 

Sneyd Street to Holden Bridge on 13/04/2026 - 27/05/2026 

The order is to allow for the completion of renewal of water mains and will come into operation on Tuesday 22nd April 2025 to Friday 1st May 2026 or until the works it is proposed to carry out are completed, whichever is the earlier. 

Pedestrian facilities will be maintained throughout the period of the closure as far as possible.

Access to properties will be maintained as far as possible.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained as far as possible. 

Nothing in the Order shall apply unless indicated by traffic signs or cones or by the direction of a police officer in uniform.
