What is happening?

SOUTH SHIELDS FOOTPATH 1167, SOUTH SHIELDS
TEMPORARY FOOTPATH / FOOTWAY CLOSURE ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Sth Tyneside Council intends to make an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians on the following footpath :- 1.Sth Shields Footpath 1167, Sth Shields, from its junction with Seton Avenue to its junction with Footpath 1168. 2. Sth Shields Footpath 1168 from its junction with Footpath 1167 to its junction with Footpath 1169. 3. Sth Shields Footpath 1169 from its junction with Footpath
1168, in a southerly direction, for a distance of 20 m. The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable Openreach to update works. The Order will come into force on the 17/04/25. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 6 months
however it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 22/04/25 for 7 days. All pedestrians except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the footpaths described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be indicated by signage
